FireTV cannot discover or connect to Wi-Fi. Have tried everything I can think of.

[edited] I have obviously tried pressing the ‘enable network’ button. It does not change anything.

[edit 2] spoke to customer services (for over an hour) and she said this is a rare issue as she couldn’t find anyone else who’d raised it loll. she’s raised a ticket to see if there’s a chance we can get the device replaced. apparently she couldn’t raise one to try and get it fixed because in order to do this the team needed information they could only get access to if the device was connected to the internet. great stuff.

My TCL FireTV (just over two years old) has seemingly lost the ability to connect to or even discover any Wi-Fi networks.

The issue started a few weeks ago when the TV would seemingly randomly disconnect and the home menu would display only live channels. This would only last for a second or so until it went back to normal, but over time the periods of disconnection got longer.
We thought initially it was a Wi-Fi issue - we recently changed providers, but the issue has remained consistent before and after the change. Both routers also worked perfectly well with every other device in the house.
It is at the point where I have been sat here for two hours unable to connect. All previously connected Wi-Fi networks display as ‘out of range’ when trying to connect to them (despite them being very much on and about six feet away) and no networks appear at all when scanning. Now, in fact, the ‘Network’ section does not even contain an option to scan for Wi-Fi anymore, and is stuck with three options. The top one is unselectable, the second does nothing, and the third just prompts me to restart the tv. (photo attached)

At this point I have tried:

- restarting the FireTV
- trying to enter the router’s details manually (before this option disappeared)
- trying to connect via the WPS button (before this option also disappeared)
- unplugging and restarting the tv, the router, and both together
- unmerging the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks
- total factory reset (this worked for a couple of days, but the issue has quickly reappeared)

If anyone has ANYTHING that could help it would be greatly appreciated. I seem to have exhausted all the online advice, including Amazon’s. Is this recoverable or am I just screwed? (or stupid?)

Remote pairing

Thumbnail

I just bought this TV from Facebook marketplace, turned it on and everything was fine it’s only been used for a little over a year I’m trying to pair the remote and nothing. I have rebooted it, restarted the remote, it won’t leave this page. I got it for a decent price but at this point I might just give it back to the seller and get my money back.

The remote will flash and light up but nothing else after that. This TV doesn’t require a fire stick as it’s built in.

Any help is appreciated.

I use the Remote App on my IPad for control of my Omni Fire TV. It’s worked perfectly, until now. Now everything works except the volume buttons, which are greyed out. I have restarted router, TV, and IPad.

Fire Stick constantly not working with the Fire Stick Remote

Essentially I have to constantly unplug the fire stick from the power supply to reset it. The remote can turn the TV on and off and control the volume, just anything with controlling the actual fire stick doesn't work. I've changed batteries and nothing has changed, only unplugging the fire stick. I tried restarting it within the system after I plugged it back in but nothing changed. It's not uncommon to unplug the fire stick once a day, sometimes up to three or four, and we've had this problem for around a month. The fire stick is Fire TV Stick 4K and I got it five years ago. Any way I can fix this or do I need to replace it?

IR profiles for HDMI port selection

I know this is a long shot, but I guess it's worth a try:

So I own a Fire TV Omni, QL43F601D to be precise.

Since I have a few different other things on the HDMI inputs and I have a Denon AV receiver I decided to get a Sofabaton remote so I wouldn't have to fiddle with 3 different remotes and manually change all the channels and inputs.

I manged to find profiles for nearly everything, including IR profiles that work on the Omni (the TV actually has an IR receiver and even the Fire TV remote that came with it uses IR).

The problem is: I cannot find profiles that can select the different HDMI ports directly.

At the moment I am using a Makro on the remote that just navigates through the menu to select the specific port, but that's rather clunky...

The Fire TV remote has 2 buttons ("1" and "2") that you can freely use for different functions including exactly what I need: I set HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 on those buttons and it works, so the TV actually supports selecting the ports directly. The problem is: even when the Fire remote is in IR mode it still uses Bluetooth for those 2 buttons, so I cannot teach the functionality to my Sofabaton remote.

So maaaayyybe someone here had the same problem or knows a solution or can nudge me in the right direction?

Channels not showing up in live tv guide

I’ve tried everything here. The antenna channels show up and prime videos channels show up. But no matter what I try news by fire tv won’t show up and neither will Tubi. I’ve made sure the apps are downloaded, added and enabled. Both are there for me to sync the channels, which both have do so “successful.” But no matter what, every time you go back to the guide they are not there. I’ve done tons of google searches on this and it’s clear it seems to have been a reoccurring issue, and I haven’t yet to find any helpful suggestions. My last attempt is to reach out here for help!

Issues With WiFi Chip

My FireTV (Model: AMZ_K24NE5_4K50M600A) will periodically refuse to remain connected to our WiFi. Everything else in the house connects fine, and the TV will occasionally reconnect and then disconnect after a few seconds. Then it will reconnect and go several weeks without it being an issue. All of the /std power cycling of the TV and router and cache clearing etc. have no effect.

Anybody else ever have this happen? Is there a way to resolve it?

[edit] In the network menu, it says WiFi is off, and there is no way to turn it back on. Is this a function of it saying it cannot detect a network, or is it actually turning off the WiFi for some reason? [/edit]

Any Aussies having trouble downloading APKM files such as Foxtel via downloader?

I previously had the Foxtel app downloaded a couple years ago but recently in last week the app opens to normal homepage but not allowing playback due to new version needed. Today downloaded a new APK Mirror file which seemed to be APKM bundle (no APK avail) and once it finishes downloading, when opening says no applications to open. Cautious to other sites etc but if anyone has a safe workaround do tell! TIA

No fire stick remotes pair after factory reset

I have tried multiple official Bluetooth fire stick remotes when pairing to my fire stick I reset, but nothing works.

I reset the remote and removed the batteries, and unplugged my fire stick like tutorials say to, but still it will not connect to the TV.

The remotes are fine connecting to other fire sticks in the house, the other fire sticks weren't even powered when trying to connect those remotes to my fire stick.

Is there anything I can do? I'm stuck with a fire stick that lets me do nothing, but ask for me to pair.

Does this new fire stick allow for sideloading? It doesn't come with the warnings on the Selects.

Flickering issue?

Thumbnail
video
1 Upvotes

Hello folks, wondering if anyone has come across this. Tough to tell from the video, but the top half of the fire stick is flickering. I’ve tried to fix it with two different sticks, changing the resolution, different power sources, turning HDR off, and just about every other fix that comes up when you google “fire stick flickering” so at this point I’m not sure what to do. Any help appreciated! Thank you!

AMC+ Standalone App

Anybody successfully find the stand alone AMC+ app to use on a Fire device? All it will show me in an app search is AMC+ on Prime, which I don't want, or AMC plain, which isn't the + version. It's included with my DTV genre pack. Found and installed fine on Google TV.

Do you actually play games on your Fire TV? What with?

I just put out a game on Fire TV that tracks your whole body through your phone's camera, so the phone on the TV stand is the controller. Now I'm realising I have no idea how people actually play games on these things. Most Fire TV games assume a gamepad, but almost everyone I know only has the remote.

So, for anyone who games on their Fire TV:

  1. Which one do you have? Stick, 4K Max, Cube, or a TV with Fire TV built in?

  2. What do you play with? The remote, a gamepad, or your phone like in Jackbox?

  3. What's the best game you've found on it?

Curious what people actually use.

Heads up: your Fire TV Stick might be what's tanking your Wi-Fi. Known Fire OS bug, and how I fixed it

Posting this because it took me a while to figure out and it's a genuinely nasty one.

Symptom: the entire Wi-Fi in the house became almost unusable, pages timing out, constant buffering, huge packet loss on every phone and laptop, but anything plugged in with an Ethernet cable worked perfectly. The culprit was a single Fire TV Stick.

It turns out to be a known Fire OS bug (Amazon has acknowledged it on their developer forum, reported July 2026, still not fixed). The Stick gets stuck repeatedly asking the network a question, hundreds of times per second, and that flood of traffic chokes the Wi-Fi for everything else.

The simplest fix in my case: there was a second router on the network (a FRITZ!Box I used only as a Wi-Fi extender) that was giving the Stick a bad answer. As soon as I removed it, the flood stopped and the Wi-Fi was instantly back to normal.

If you can't remove the device that's causing it, or you want to stop the flood permanently on the Stick itself, I wrote up every option (including a small script that fixes it without touching the Stick, and an advanced on-device removal) here:

https://nicologiuliani.site/blog/firetv-mdns-storm/

Tested on a Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st gen), but the bug is in Fire OS, so other Fire TV models are affected too. If your Wi-Fi has been mysteriously bad, unplug the Fire TV for ten minutes and see if everything else recovers, it's a quick thing to rule out.

Can't Connect Remote to FireTV

Before I toss this thing in eWaste, I figured I'd come here and see if anyone can assist. I got a TV that was working fine, but the remote was lost. The TV is a Toshiba that was a Best Buy 4k model. Anyway, I picked up a 3rd party remote and tried to sync that. It worked for basic things, but only power, volume, and channel changes. So, I factory reset the TV, and now it won't sync.

It powers on the TV, allows me to press the center button for ENTER, but when I get to the sync part, it doesn't connect. Even pressing the home button for 10 seconds does nothing.

So, I bought a second 3rd party remote - same result.

In a last-ditch attempt to save the TV, I bought the official Insignia/Toshiba remote from Best Buy. No joy. Same result. Is there something I need to do that I'm just not doing? I've unplugged the TV, let it sit overnight, put different batteries in all 3 remotes. Still nothing. I hate to toss the TV since it was working great before the original remote was lost. Hell, I even tried the FireTV app, as suggested by some Google searching, but even that won't sync.

Amazon fire tv speakers go in and out

Thumbnail

this is my current fire tv. the speakers rarely ever work, but when they do they work fine. this tv was given to us from a friend, she had bought it new and i believe this was always an issue on the tv. is there any advice or suggestions on what i could possibly do to try to fix it or any idea if this is common?

when the speakers aren’t working the volume controls/options will be greyed out. sometimes if i connect my phone to it and blast a video on screen mirroring it’ll start working but i’m unsure if that’s related or not.

people had came out to look at the tv and said there was nothing they could do, but i’d like to still try

Any way to revert to previous home screen layout?

My TV must've updated these past days. Now, on top of the top ads, I click down and get a row of more ads for stuff I don't watch where some settings used to be before (there I could change input, go to settings, row of apps was right there, etc). Then I go down again and there's a slim row of my apps, and then EVEN MORE ADS where the full settings used to be. Now there are just rows and rows of subscription services I don't use, no easily accessible settings to be found. It's horrible, looks awful, now I have to browse way more to get to my stuff and settings. Pretty upsetting.

Got a free FireTV from my landlord

Hiya! My landlord/realtor gave my fiancé and I a fire stick tv she didn’t need. She didn’t have the remote for it. I have a fire stick hdmi that I use with the remote it came with. I plugged in the hdmi and am using the app as a remote. Everything works great but I have no way to adjust the volume. Given that I don’t have the original remote, and my fire stick remote for my hdmi fire stick does not have volume buttons on it, am I totally fucked if I don’t see a volume option on the app?

YoutubeTV YTTV Multiview Pixelation

get this vertical rectangle of mainly-green pixelation, amongst many other artifacts in the other squares, notice the overall washed out look on the bottom, the blocking under 'ME?' in the bottom right

no matter the number of squares, no matter the stream, different channels, all the same

anyone else

fire cube tv 2nd gen

edit: yttv in regular viewing is completely normal. plex, prime, Netflix, YouTube, all work flawless, it is ONLY multiview that produces this nonsense. I have a onn 4k v1 I'm coming from, same HDMI, same input, no issue with multiview, it is very much inherent to firetv version of the app

Network tab not showing available WiFi networks

I already know I have an issue with my router, but I am able to connect the tv to the WiFi if I can select my WiFi and “forget” then reconnect. The issue is that the network settings is not showing my available WiFi options. Even when I have my hotspot on. It just shows “Basic WiFi troubleshooting tips” and nothing else.

I have restarted the tv so many times and it does nothing. The last time I got it to work, I unplugged the tv for over 12 hours but I don’t want to do that every time I want to watch tv plus there’s no guarantee it’ll work again as the other methods I’ve tried that worked only did so once or twice.

Help with re-setting up TV

My fire tv got disconnected from the internet and wouldn’t show any wifi networks, so I ended up factory resetting the tv. After resetting it I got to a page where I had to choose a language and after that I had to connect my remote, but it wouldn’t connect even after trying to reset the remote. Help would be really appreciated
