Resource List / Frequently Asked Questions

With AI making it harder to make a simple Google search as well as frequently presenting misinformation as fact, as well as to help players with questions they often come here for, I felt it would be helpful to compile a list of frequently asked questions and useful resources about pokemon platinum and gen 4.

Useful Websites and Pages

Game Data, Encyclopedias, and Guides

  • serebii.net: the best source of moveset data, encounter data, and more; the best "online Pokédex" available. Using the search feature to get to the Pokédex is recommended, but their Platinum Directory should get you where you need.
  • marriland.com: their EV training guide, shiny pokemon guide, and team builder tool are all useful. They used to have a walkthrough but it's not currently available.
  • Bulbapedia is quite saturated with irrelevant information and it isn't the easiest to navigate to game data, especially for oldgens, but it's great for finding specific item locations, in-depth descriptions of how moves, abilities, and other mechanics function, and movesets of boss trainers. Their walkthrough is also one of the best.
  • Smogon contains a compendium of PvP/competitive sets and articles, and they also have several In-Game Articles! this includes guides on RNG Abuse, Pokémon Radar Chaining, Battle Frontier, and more. Note however a lot of the in-game content is from the game's release window and player sentiment may have since changed, eg that in-game tier list is extremely dated. However, their PvP content is still being updated and should all be current.
  • This Pastebin contains the moveset and stat data for all NPC trainers. Useful for challenge runs.

Battle Frontier

  • Smogon Forums have a great thread of resources and info, including Trainer Sets, Speed Tiers, and some strategy guides

Tools, Calculators, and UIs

Rom Hacks and Patches

  • Renegade Platinum, a Difficulty/Revamp Hack by Drayano with a "Revamped Version" with fanmade stat and typing changes and a "Classic Version" that uses mostly official inspirations. It features the fairy type, updated trainers and encounters, new moves and modern ability additions, changes to progression, and more.
  • QoL Hack/Patch Collection including the Following Pokémon Mod. Note that it's best to avoid using cheats in QoL hacks; since offsets are different, using cheats in Romhacks can have unpredictable effects including breaking event flags, making progression impossible and potentially permanently softlocking your save file.
  • Ultimate Pokémon Randomizer: a program that allows you to customize various gameplay aspects including starters, encounters, and much more. It can be used for randomizing the game in many capacities, as well as to remove Trade Evolutions.
  • DSPRE is a comprehensive rom hacking tool that allows you to make your own romhack and/or make small changes to the game as you see fit, such as decapitalizing Pokémon names, removing trade evolutions, changing starters or encounters or trainers, and a whole lot of other options. It can do as much or as little as you like.

• For resources about creating your own romhack including scripting tutorials, see here.

Cheat Codes

  • Supercheats - a good collection of individual Action Replay codes.
  • Cheats Database - a large premade pack of cheats for melonDS, flashcarts, Twilight Menu, and other emulators or loaders that support adding cheats this way.

Nope, sorry. This hasn't been innovated in any DS romhacks or cheats yet. You'll have to learn how to manage Exp or use other cheats like item duplication for extra Exp Shares or Rare Candies.

Where Can I Download this Game?

Sharing links to ROMs is not allowed on this sub. Go to [r/roms](r/roms). See also our How Can I Play this Game guide for choosing and setting up an emulator.

Where Can I Buy a Real Copy?

eBay, AliExpress, and other sellers with purchase protection are recommended; the market is flooded with fakes and being able to get a refund is important. With the lack of accessibility of a real cartridge in 2025, emulation and custom firmware is a recommended alternative; see our How Can I Play this Game guide as well as cartridge verification guides.

Can I Use a Fake Copy of the Game?

Sometimes they work fine, but generally this is not recommended. Many fake cartridges have issues with freezing, and especially with loss or corruption of save data. There is no reason to purchase or use a fake copy since flashcarts and emulation are cheaper, more versatile, and work better, and fake copies are functionally and legally the exact same as pirated roms.

Is My Copy of the Game Real?

Ask on [r/gameverifying](r/gameverifying), not here. But before making a post there, learn how to identify this yourself using the guides on their site, you may be able to catch a fake yourself without needing to post.

Trade Evolution Guide - All Hardware!

Trade Evolution is a feature Pokémon has featured since its inception that is generally reviled for its inaccessibility and/or financial barriers; this is even more of a challenge with a game like platinum that is almost 20 years old now and thus has less active players, no more official online services, and real hardware has become an increasingly less accessible way to play. Luckily, players have worked out many other ways of evolving these Pokémon with just one system using fanmade tools and resources, even if that one system is an emulator. If you're looking to evolve your Pokémon but can't do so "the normal way," this guide is for you! We'll go into every method, as well as their advantages and disadvantages, below.

Standard Method

The normal way of triggering trade evolution is trading a Pokémon from one game to another. This will generally requires two DS family systems and the ability to play a gen 4 game on each.

This is possible through local multiplayer the way it's always been, just get within about 65 feet of one another and enter the union room on the second floor of the Pokémon center. Note that local wireless multiplayer does not work on phone emulators.

Online this is still possible through connecting to the fan-run DNS server using this Guide and trade with other players online; however, the WiFi room is finicky. It will only work if you're connected to a router, not a hotspot, and sometimes still will not work. Online multiplayer should work on iPhones with the Delta Ultimate Multiplayer Guide, not sure about Android, please let me know if you know more.

Save Editing Method

If you're playing on anything except for a real cartridge on a DS Lite or Phat, save editing is the easiest and most accessible method to evolving a Pokémon by "Trade" in this day and age.

Essentially, this method is executed by opening up your save file in a save editor such as PKHex, PKMDS, etc, and changing your unevolved Pokémon into its evolved form. PKMDS even has an "evolve Pokémon" button!

For more specific instructions and software recommendations see this sub's Save Editing Guide.

This is the easiest method on a phone and the fastest method on a DSi or 3DS/2DS. This method requires custom firmware if performed on a DSi or 3DS/2DS family system; custom firmware is generally recommended for using these devices in the present day due to its ability replicate or replace many inaccessible or cumbersome features and its lack of disadvantages. If this is inaccessible to you, other methods are recommended instead.

GTS Method

Using the GTS in Jubilife City, a glitch exists where you can evolve your Pokémon by depositing your Pokémon, engaging in a separate trade, and then removing the Pokémon you deposited.

The GTS Method has the advantage of being no-mod, but has the disadvantage of requiring execution of the DNS Exploit, which isn't accessible to everyone since it requires an Unsecured (aka WEP) Internet Connection, which is impossible with an iPhone's Personal Hotspot feature but possible on other phones like Android. It also requires you to engage in a separate online trade, so you can only perform this method if you're able to find a GTS trade you can make.

Bulbapedia has a guide on executing this glitch. To connect to the fan DNS server to access the GTS, follow this Guide

ROM Editing Method

If you're emulating or sideloading on any hardware, using a modified version of the game itself can be a nice one-and-done way to remove the need to trade to evolve Pokémon. Universal Pokémon Randomizer can do this for you with the "Remove Trade Evolutions" option, and many other QoL Patches and ROM Hacks exist as well. Essentially these mods can be applied to a ROM of Pokémon platinum to change trade evolutions into other methods; follow the patching instructions in their individual threads to set them up. This method has the advantage of only needing to be done once - simply patch the game and you never need to do anything special to activate trade evolution again. It's quite convenient if you

However, this method can lead to some pretty big gameplay differences. These methods tend to replace trade evolutions with other methods, in many cases using or leveling up with an item, but sometimes level up evolutions come at late levels like late 30s, which is much later than when most trade evolutions are normally available. Having to wait, for example in UPR's case, 22 extra levels for Alakazam because you can't access trading is pretty ridiculous and makes a huge difference in gameplay. Full-on QoL patches tend to have other gameplay differences which you may and may not like; a pretty notable one in the most popular patch that changes the game quite a bit is infinite TMs. Overall save editing can accomplish what these patches can do pretty easily and you need the same resources to access them in most cases so I don't love it, since I'd rather edit my save for QOL purposes directly on an as-needed basis rather than committing to a patch that changes the game at the beginning. However, this method may be exactly what you're looking for and accessible to you.

Another consideration is that cheats do not work well on romhacks. This is because the offsets that cheats overwrite are often moved in romhacks. This can potentially lead to your save file being softlocked, since this can break progression event flags. We've seen multiple posts about this happening with the main QoL hack, PlatinumQoL. If you plan to use cheats, it's best to avoid this method and look to others.

You can also edit your ROM however you like using DSPRE, including changing trade evolutions into whatever trigger you like.

Self-Trading Method

In melonDS on PC, you can trade with yourself by opening two instances of the game. Here is a guide to doing so

I don't know of a way to do this on a phone.

If you're using DesMuMe, consider using melonDS instead; DesMuMe is no longer being updated as of 2022 and does not support multiplayer.

Choosing a Method

As usual the best method for achieving these workarounds will depend on the hardware you are playing on, what other resources you have accessible, and personal preference.

I will not be mentioning the standard method here; generally I figure you probably don't need to look at this guide to learn how to do it and are aware of whether it is a good/accessible option for you or not. It is a fine method if it is accessible to you, but is still more cumbersome than save editing on devices with access to that.

If you have access to multiple methods:

  • GTS Method is recommended if you want or need to be no-mod.
  • Save Editing is generally fastest and easiest, but must be done for every Pokémon you want to evolve.
  • An Edited ROM only needs to be changed once, but may present other gameplay differences you may or may not like.
  • Self-trading only works on computers and save editing works fine there and is easy and does not require entering the union room or watching a trade or evolution animation. From there it's personal preference.

On a DS Phat or Lite running a real cartridge, the GTS Method is really your only option since you cannot modify the ROM on a real cart or dump your save to edit without a cartridge dumper. On a flashcart, save editing is easy, using an edited rom is easy, and the GTS Method should also work if it's accessible to you.

On a DSi running a real cartridge, Save Editing is recommended; Pokémon Chest is the recommended tool for doing so since this is doable from the DSi with no other devices. If you do not have access to CFW, the GTS Method is recommended instead, if you have access to it. With Twilight Menu, you can edit your save, or use a modified ROM. The GTS Method should still work, but there is no reason to use it. I don't know how hiyaCFW injects work but at the very least save editing with PKHex will work after dumping your save, and a modified ROM would be easy to set up, there also is no reason besides lack of access that GTS wouldn't work that I can think of. On a flashcart, save editing is easy, using an edited rom is easy, and the GTS Method should also work if it's accessible to you.

With a 3ds or 2ds family system running a real cartridge, Save Editing with PKSM is recommended. The GTS Method will work if you have no access to CFW but access to an unsecured WiFi network. With Twilight Menu or a Forwarder, see the guide on - How to get PKSM to work for NDS games and use PKSM, or edit the save directly from the SD card on another device with PKHex or PKMDS. There is no reason to do it if you're emulating but the GTS Method should also work, and obviously emulating a modified ROM will too.

On any phone emulator, save editing directly from your device with PKMDS is recommended, and a modified ROM will work too. On Delta for iPhone, you also can access the GTS Method if you really want, using the instructions in the Delta Ultimate Multiplayer Guide. I don't know anything about Android emulators.

On a computer-based emulator, which will probably be melonDS, you can Self-Trade or Edit Your Save for roughly equal effort and time commitment. On other emulators (which are likely dated,) Save Editing is recommended. Setting up a modified ROM is also obviously easy on a computer.

On a Wii U running an UWUVCI inject, injecting an Edited ROM is recommended, since I don't know of a way to import an edited save on one of these. Please let me know if you do! With the NooDS emulator, Save Editing with PKHex or PKMDS on another device is recommended. I actually have both set up on my Wii U but do not have access to the DNS Exploit - please let me know if you know whether the Wii U supports it!

On other emulation devices such as the Miyoo Mini, R36S, Ayn Thor, a modded Switch, or anything else that runs the game off an SD card or other external drive, save editing or a modified ROM is recommended.

The Spiritomb Factor

Spiritomb isn't a "Trade Evolution," but it's an encounter that traditionally requires Multiplayer to activate; you have to go Underground 32 times and talk to another player each time. However these methods to avoid Trade Evolution Requirements also apply to Spritomb.

With PKHex, you're able onto edit Event Flags (think of these like "triggers" that make story events & encounters happen when you achieve their requirements) to make Spiritomb ready to encounter. Event Flags are under the "Sav" tab in the UI, and the 4th comment on this PokéCommunity Thread shows the proper settings to use in the "Spiritomb" and "Hallowed Tower" drop downs.

If the Patched ROM method is more your fancy, that works here too! Most QoL Patches in the Collection make Spiritomb accessible without Multiplayer. Unfortunately, Universal Pokémon Randomizer can't help with this, correct me if I'm wrong.

On a computer, opening two instances of melonDS will work for triggering the standard method, but takes so much more time than save editing that it is way more trouble than it's worth.

There is no way to use online services, including fanmade ones, to meet other players Underground, since Underground is local-multiplayer-only.

My Pokemon Platinum team...in cards!

Just sharing a fun little project I've been on the past year. Going through all of the games, some for the first time, some playing again after many years. As I finished each one, I would dedicate a page in the binder to that one and collect a card for each Pokemon I beat that game with as a way to remember that playthrough.

I had never played Pokemon Platinum since I stopped after Diamond. It was so much fun.

Man, Electivire just doesn't cut it.

Tried to raise one as part of my dex collection, wanting a change of pace from the main electric type team memeber.

I think I may have ended up on the worst possible new sinnoh pokemon to round out my team. Electvire can not take any hit for the life of it.

How was this Volkner's Ace?

This is my team. Do you see anything that could be improved?

I genuinely don’t know what to give Spiritomb and Gallade for their last 4 move slots, so I just put some filler moves there for now (Hypnosis and Thunder Punch).

Diamond Hall of fame (diamond)

Around 12 hours passed since i fought in league ,still recovering from Cynthia.

I've been playing same diamond run like since 2023. Only that i cleared gyms and then hit barrage with xp grinding for like 2 years..damn vs seeker is so annoying to use.

That comes to how i came up with my team planning and which pokemons didn't make up to my final team.

I have to clarify all my pokemons were caught by not caring about their stats or natures at all . half ended up being more offensive than bulkier so it's not point me to showing those.

I planned to use dialga first on my team but already had empoleon for steel type coverage even felt that legendary pokemon would be too op. And my favorite legendary Darkrai is event locked

I wish i could've used toxicroak, almost replaced my vespiquen sadly didn't have any use for him. Between quagsire or Gastrodon they almost made it to my team.

now for the main:

Rapidash was just there to coverage fire type,

i didn't have many options because gen 4 it's what it is. I was thinking using Dusknoir with fire punch along with trick room set but it being postgame/trade locked didn't make in my team.

For tm i planned to use willowisp to replace ember, Again FOUND OUT it's postgame locked so ended up using solar beam instead (not a single use) . Didn't know nothing about Normal moves that were avaible for Rapidash tbh.

Before me telling about my bronzong pick:

I didn't have any knowledge of ev ivs physical /special attack etc. for short i am very casual player.

i looked up bunch of stuff on youtube discovering fear, learning about stab/ohko etc.

Even 2 days ago i did learn about split thanks to another worry to my list

Even came across one of the dear moderator daily pokemon/ move breakthroughs (i think since glalie post if i remember right, they were very helpfull and i got some nice ideas and gained bunch of knowledge out of them) .

Basically this inspired me to use some basic strategies which comes to me wanting to use & learn trick troom- move. this is where FNAF- five turn meme comes to handy

So I picked bronzong for trick room mainly. learning about it's levitate ability was also another reason to add it to my team.

(funny thing: I ended up canceling the effect against cynthia for instinct i forgot which turn i was in and forced me to recast trick room , nothing could've prepared me to get info about canceling the effect unless that point me to try and figure it out tbh)

vespiquen was very easy choice since i always liked her, favorite purposes tbh. i did heard her shiny was one of the rarest thing to counter along side spinda (idk rumours). i was just casually trying for it not shiny hunting , beside slabbing a honey onto trees constantly took it time i even recall countering Munchlax once , so ended up catching combee female. I tried to make her rain dance + thunder w luxray to work , ended up not using that at all , it's bug type came handy mostly. didn't use move roost at all

I ditched roserade along the way, she was at 44 level. Only learned too late that she would learn toxic spikes (for some reason i thought that it would evolve to gallade, does anyone else have pokemons like that when you mistaking type or evolution ? like for me medicham is one of those the grey color bait me to think it that it would be steel type)

Replacing her, i chose Abomasnow for it's grass type , ice moves was there to back up me (in case empoleon or bronzong faints). Abomasnow tankiness came out handy though his defence stats were very poor but my levels make up for that.

I guess you would naturally think that i was planning to use it against cynthia's garchomp with ice stab or atleast few people did in my previous post but that job was for my empoleon to do with his ice beam

Luxray is just there for favorite mon reason , Bite came handy

Did i already breakdown my Empoleon ? well beside ice beam he was my hm slave and starter powerhouse. Oh piplup is my favorite gen 4 starter so that too! I had to give up on flash cannon for ice beam , i learned that you can't teach over hm i wanted to replace on waterfall originally.

I did look up diamond walkthrough beforehand so i would try to match Cynthia's pokemon levels knew nothing about her moves, besides that the other elite trainers i faced blindly. Already knew about Aaron somehow

Elite trainer battles:

Aaron

I entered the battle using rapidash as my lead using fire blitz to take out dustox and vespiquen

> used bounce against heracross

most challenge here was Drapion because i was thinking it'd be ground or rock/poison tyoe so i went with empoleon *embarrassiing*

> used 1 ice beam and blasted Hydro pump .. down

>Luxray Thunder fang against beautifly

Aaron was lightweight compared to the upcoming trainers.

Bertha

Okay, Bertha was someone i had 0 idea what types she would lead with ( i was thinking dark , ghost or psychic type since she kinda reminds me of Lorelei from kanto)

Glad It was something simple as Ground. just means more ground type training against big c's garchomp

I lead with Vespiquen using u-turn to swap Empoleon used Waterfall and ice beam to take out quagsire

> Abomasnow with blizzard and ice shard for sudowoodo

> Used grassknot to take out hippowdon

> gigadrain to golum

> grass knot against whiscash and finished with ice shard

Bertha was easy mode also

Flint

he was already familiar from the dp anime , i was prepared to face Infernape so i lead with empoleon to test grounds

> facing rapidash him using bounce glad i didn't paralyze , i used surf swept rapidash

> leading to Flint's Infernape

Im using hydro pump but.. Infernape outspeed me with THUNDER PUNCH.. hear me out nothing could've prepared me for that move! could've seen that coming miles away! gladly i left with alive 13 hp im already 1 level above infernape >>>> hydro pump cast and infernape is down.

Flint sends Lopunny , i send bronzong

i already knew i would've been in a pinch lacking fight type moves against normal

I end up using earthquake for 2 turns and 1 gyrobal

Flint uses full restore

I use earthquake and toxic

> i swapped to luxray using thunder fang , lopunny faint from poisoning

> i sent Rapidash against steelix obviously , one shotting with blitz

Now Drifblim here was most suprising one

I send vespiquen against that Drifblim , tbh forgot about ghost weakness shouldve guess fly )

I use u turn , sending luxray

> used crunch , missed

2nd turn used crunch, missed , got

burned by willowisp

>my luxray dies with ominous wind+burn

>Abomasnow with gigadrain and finishing with ice shard

I would say by far Flint was the most challenging to me. might be hot take harder than Cynthia , personal opinion

Lucian

I should've guessed that i was going to face him eventually since i had just recently watched Lucian episode in dp anime

His 2d view looks nothing a like , so i had no idea who he was or what mons he would use until battle started

> i went in with vespiquen against mr. mime

> attack order made mime faint

im still keeping vespiquen on field

> Lucian sends medicham

my vespiquen faints to ice& fire punch within 2 turns

Rapidash goes to field , takes out medicham with bounce

>Kept Rapidash on the field against bronzong

used flare blitz 1 turn , that wall still has hp left .. 2nd turn fire blast and Lucian's bronzong is down

>next is girafagir , sending my luxray in

i used crunch leaving girafagir low hp

lucian use full restore

Second crunch

> lucian shadow ball , my crunch , Girafagir faints

>keeping luxray on field for alakazam

>Alakazam outspeeds my luxray with psychic , luxray faints

> i take down alakazam with 1 earthquake & gyroball

well Lucian wasn't much a challenge though he took 2 my pokemons down

Cynthia

This is why im here for, Cynthia that woman everyone fears at the point i even overleveled my Pokemons

I didn't expect the match start right away cynthia walking towards me !

> I send my rapidash in facing her spiritomb

using flare blitz and spiritomb is down

> Cynthia sends in gastrodon

Im sending abomasnow

> i use Grass not leaving gastrodon low hp

(my abomasnow 7 lvl advantage , kinda expected ko )

gastrodon faints due hail

>Lucario is on the field

I send my bronzong in using trick room

>lucario uses psychic doing nothing , twisting dimensions

> my bronzong with earthquake leaving lucario like 1hp

> i panick clicked poison not thinking poison resist -_-

Cynthia uses full restore on Lucario

>at this point i.. unknowingly wear effect off with another trick room -_-

> earthquake takes lucario down

Now it's Garchomp turn ! im shivering

>sending my empoleon in

garchomp dragon rush misses

1 ice beam from my empoleon like planned

>leaves like 20 hp , garchomps citrus berry activates..

> Garchomp giga impact misses

>Garchomp goes down with my ice beam

and i think it's over

Cynthia sends roserade

> Im following with luxray

using thunder fang

>2nd thunder fang leaving roserade paralyzed

>using advantage i panic click hyper potion on ... RAPIDASH instead luxray rahhhhhhh! maybe this is karma for me being bi** and using potions mid battle..

> cynthia uses full restore

I back away , swapping to rapidash

flare blitz takes roserade down

> Cynthia last pokemon Milotic is in !

i swap back to Luxray

> outspeeding milotic with thunder fang , leaving it like 20hp

>Luxray dies to ice beam

i send in vespiquen with u-turn , taking down milotic

Battle is over!

I would say i had hard and easy time against Cynthia , i didn't expect Garchomp at turn 4. Thinking it would be her last pokemon to deal with. The AI completely suprised me overall.

I planned my team for beating Cynthia at the point i trained them to be almost at 70(though i did get 1-2 lvls from previous trainers before Cynthia) didn't give me much advantage. At least barely contributed anything for speed or i didn't manage to one hit

I like to be well prepared why i entered to league all in. It didn't make my experience less funnier. hell im even yearning for more! the league fights were so much fun than normal gyms. Sure i had my expectations before entering league. i had taken notes and stuff and bunch.

I have so much to learn. for instinct still don't understand some simple things like using protect/screen or sword dance instead damaging move

I have seen people complaining about them having hard time in league even having more level than mine on their team. Some clearing with unown using hp only , well that's impressive ! at least i like to think

but that's not me, im not that good yet haha

That's where the versality to pokemon games comes to where you can completely choose how you approach gameplay , was it nuzlocke or going full dex completion , shiny hunting yada yada.. well heck. do all at once!

Overall Diamond was 10/10 experience , soundracks were great , gyms gave some good and hard time.

Downsides are lack of fire pokemons and maybe Barry isn't the best rival imo.

I would say sinnoh games are overall easy to start begin with if you're first timer

Maybe my love towards gen 4 comes from anime.

I had already experience from platinum, never reached league and played heart gold when i was younger never did league in that.

I think im doing chronological order from fire red to silver and hggs next. I have so many fun teams planned for platinum and others maybe nuzlocke at somepoint.

if you reached this far ,thanks for reading. have a nice day /weekend 🤙

Drapion was my eq user and did that quite well. he also was surprisingly fast.
Honchkrow was worse than when I tried him with other teams bc he had to be the major used pokemon to defeat fighting types which was quite hard.
Houndoom‘s damage of Flamethrower was really valueable and the shredded through aaron.
Even tho Absol comes quite late he‘s sooo good againsr lucian. If you ever need a pokemon for him use Absol. Set up 3 sd and suckerpunch all beside bronzor which you can ohko with nightslash.
Spiritomb was quite disappointing. brought him into the e4 over umbreoj but he lowk did nothing.
Weavile was as good as I expected icl.

I absolutely can't explain how FKING PROUD I AM OF MY BRONZONG, "Bloodzonge" (mix. with "Bloodborne").

Hi, i'm Mateo and a few weeks ago I retook a Pokemon Platinum nuzlocke I started months ago since I neved finished the game, last time I got to the 7th or 8th medal (and not nuzlocking) and now I finished this. MANY of the Pokemons I got fainted and I was left with only this team for the Pokemon League: Torterra, Gastrodon, Crobat, Garchomp, BronzonGOAT and Giratina (which took down quickly Spiritomb and died to Cynthia's Garchomp), all surviving the Elite Four and barely Gastrodon n Garchomp surviving.

The point is that I found Bronzong in Mount Coronet and trained it for Pok. League, only used it on this point of the adventure and HOLY SH1T IT TANKED AND DEMOLISHED BY HIMSELF GARCHOMP! First time using this absolute goat and one of the only times I've felt so proud of a Pokemon. Greetings to everyone and sorry if this is too long!! 😊

My first older Pokemon game I fully played through. Sinnoh had ways been one of my least favorite regions but going from Legend’s Arceus to this, it’s definitely one of my favorites now. Great Dex, great story, great region design, great characters. I CSNT wait to play pearl on the DS.

This is Pearl but the plan is to transfer them to Platinum. Anyone ever done this? I'm missing quite a few.

As a teen, I couldn’t get a DS, so I never played past Gen 3. Been replaying Gen 1-3 on Delta Emulator for maybe a year now & decided it was time.

Man…this game might be better than Emerald. First playthrough & had a core team of 4. Wanted to keep it strictly Gen 4 mons, & was never a fan of having a 6 mon team. Had I found out sooner about the cool little electric ghost Rodom in the TV, I would’ve added it to the squad. Also started the game with pkrs. That alone motivated me to finish lol

The story is actually pretty great. I found myself buying dozens of max repels because my team was overpowering each gym, and I was unsure about finding out what to do at a few points, so I did a lot of running & biking.

I tried not to use TMs as much as possible in case I came across a mon that needed it. So Empoleons moveset wouldn’t have had bubblebeam or metal claw, but they still got the job done.

Also didn’t realize I had the HM for Fly until after I beat the 6th gym leader 🤣

My team was perfectly leveled by the time I made it to the champion. I was lucky to get not one but two lucky eggs early in the game. I thought I’d be somewhat overpowered but Cynthia was a beast. I was one move away from losing Garchomp, but luckily her attack missed 😮‍💨

Found a lv 74 & 79 Magikarp 😭

The legendaries were interesting. 3 Dragons?! And somehow, they were fairly easy to capture after paralyzing & beating them down to low health. Even caught them in regular pokeballs.

As for the others, I was most interested in Darkrai (awesome design) so I learned I had to “cheat” to get the member card. Cresselia was the most difficult to capture. & I also added an action replay cheat to get the azure flute for Arceus. Still have my one master ball too.

I’ve read the 3 legendary birds are roaming so I may go search for them. Then there’s battle frontier, but what else is there to accomplish? I also want to do a run with infernape. I see how much of a difference a fire Mon can make.

this was really fun to do,i know my team is not the best but i thought since im doing a full shiny team, might as well fill it with my favorites.

i also hunted for shiny giratina and it took me a few days to find and and i panicked, tried to click "bag",and accidently ran :(
i was frustrated that i ended up catching a normal one and calling it failure

i must admit i did it on an emulator with couple of windows opened simultaneously, still full odds but you may count this non legit

I was kinda tweaking because i wasn't sure if theres an pc after waterfall right before entering castle and i couldn't teach fly for vespiqueen almost had to train my crobat (first time everything). I fought Barry and got luxray at 65 , real challenge begins !

Also if anyone could recommend me what playthrough to do after this one since I don't realy care about post game for gen 4.

I have played bw2 , all gyms cleared so i have to grind levels only , im realy looking forward to re-challening Cynthia tho

also started fire red run when nintendo Switch thing was trending this or last year. im kinda stuck on cinnabar island. I did defeat blaine and more lvl training

I could start Silver , though i might do chronological order so after fire red 😆
