The Circuit Bending Wiki is finally up and running!
The Circuit Bending Wiki is finally here, and editing is open to all!
What is the Circuit Bending Wiki?
The Circuit Bending Wiki is an ongoing community project, intended to serve as a central place for the circuit bending community to view, share, and archive information in a way that is collaborative and easy-to-use.
Information like: personal build notes, tutorials, bend points and diagrams, device documentation (service manuals, IC data sheets, device specs, etc.), posts from defunct bending sites & blogs… Basically, we’re trying to compile as much practical info as we can, new and old. We’d like to use this Wiki to archive existing info, while also encouraging users to contribute their own original content, and share their findings.
How do I navigate the Wiki?
Our List of Articles page is a good start. It’s meant to function as a sitemap of sorts, and contains a list of every page on the wiki.
There you’ll find articles on specific devices, each with detailed technical info and bending guides, as well as articles on broad bending concepts, explaining their utility & implementation.
On our List of Resources page, you can find our collection of links to circuit bending sites & resources.
And on our List of Manuals page, you can find our growing catalogue of owner's & service manuals for commonly-bent devices.
How do I contribute?
This wiki’s utility & growth ultimately depend on your involvement. So please, try to contribute when you can! Editing permissions have been left unrestricted & open to all to encourage participation.
If you’d like to suggest an article, or create a new one, you can find our to-do list over on our Planned Articles page.
If you have any images or PDFs you’d like to archive (service manuals, schematics, bend points, etc), you can upload them on our Upload File page.
And if you happen upon a page while lurking that you think you can add to, please do!
And finally, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to leave them in the comments.

Demonstration Adapting u/theglorioustopsail's advanced mod for patchbay style glitchcams.
Inspired by u/theglorioustopsail (https://www.reddit.com/r/CircuitBending/comments/1ud0ec9/powershot_a520_bend_sourcetarget_selector/), I have designed and made a version of their glitch camera mod for use with my own patch bay style cameras. Huge thanks to them, as this would not have been possible without their detailed write-up as heavy inspiration. This is basically the circuit they made, including a inverter gate, frequency divider, and potentiometer, but instead of being hardwired into the camera, the inputs/outputs are ports you can plug jumper wires into. This allows for more flexibility on what can be manipulated by the circuit. Other notable differences include it being battery powered, the ability to feed the output of the inverter into the frequency divider, and using both sides of the CD54HC74 chip to make it dual channel.
There isn't much to say that u/theglorioustopsail didn't already, though I find the frequency division function to behave different from camera to camera. All of the photos in this post were taken with a Fujifilm Finepix S1500, which doesn't seem to get scan lines exactly like the Powershot A520 with division. It is injecting a unique effect into the image, and, at least with the S1500, can vary depending on what is plugged in. In the 2nd set of comparison images it seems to "dull" the colors, and below you can see the chaotic patterns that emerged in the 1st set of images.

The frequency division also has interesting behavior when plugged into bendpoints which are not the data lines D11-D0 coming off of the ADC, such as what I believe to be the horizontal clock being used in the pictures noted as "non-ADC." The nature of the build makes it so there are too many combinations to show in one post, but I hope the images I chose and labeled are an adequate demonstration. I plan on making another post of just pictures later this week, so please look forward to that!
It is limited in some aspects when compared to the original u/theglorioustopsail made. First, it is ugly, inelegant, and makes my glitch cameras look even more like improvised explosive devices. It does require 12mm coin batteries to be operated, which are inexpensive but another thing to worry about. Finally, to my knowledge they don't make compatible jumper wires which split more than twice, so feeding more than two ports from the camera into the circuit and vise versa requires daisy chaining multiple splitter wires. In any case, I have gotten the itch to expand on this idea of manipulating the data outside of the camera. I need to get a breadboard or something to do testing with, but I believe using an op-amp summing circuit or a PT2399 delay/echo circuit adapted for the voltage and current the camera is using could be interesting. If people have had other ideas I would be grateful to hear them, too. Also, I can share the KiCad file and answer questions if anyone is interested. I love glitch photography, so hopefully we can keep pushing this medium together!
Thank you for reading.

Demonstration dc motors drone machine
it's not circuit bending, but i wanted to show you 😊 I built this “drone machine” using a laptop cooling fan base, an extra DC motor, and speakers serving as microphones.
I uploaded the process to my YouTube channel in case anyone’s interested.

Question Speak and ready question
So I pulled a S&R out of storage and decided to give it a go. I’ve read/seen pretty much everything online about this bend. And as you might know, this one is notoriously a pain in the ass to prove while sound is happening.
So I’m sticking with mostly pre-known bends.
Can anyone explain what ‘base’ is here, and how/if it interacts with distortion, glitch, loop and loop2.
Thanks in advance peeps!

Demonstration MixMeDJs🥰
I just got back into video editing and recorded a quick jam on my setup. I had to put something out there because I haven't posted in so long.
I'm really judgmental toward myself, so I didn't know what to do — I just uploaded it to my YouTube channel and threw it out there.
I'm also trying to get better at sharing in the community here. This is just a little snippet, still figuring out how Reddit handles videos. Not much of a Reddit user, but I'm getting there.

Video/Camera Bend No Card Detected
Im working on circuit bending this camera, for some reason its saying no card detected, i believe its a hardware issue even though i never tampered with the SD card holder at all so if any of you have had this problem before how did you fix it?

Demonstration New knob haul
the electronics warehouse in Toronto near Lawrence and Caledonia. there’s thousands of these piled into shoeboxes, and plenty of larger ones, metal, big dial, though I think I’ve gotten the best colorful ones. Depending on your haggling this is a cheaper better more unique option than amazon aliexpres

fucking around and finding out
I like to mess around with different bending effects and record each one to tape as I experiment. I don't know what I'm doing

A few moments I came across while walking around the city.
Sometimes I don't go out looking for a specific story. I just follow the light, the people, and the rhythm of the city, photographing whatever catches my attention along the way.
These are a few frames I took around the city recently.
I'm curious: What do you find yourself photographing most in your own city?

How to know what switches to use on toy camera
Hi! I'm new to circuit bending and don't know anything about anything. I really want to learn how to do it, but I don't know where to start. I've carefully disassembled the camera and tried glitching the screen with wire, I got some cool effects but I want to be able to switch through the different effects while taking photos.
Idk if this is a stupid question or not, but how do you know what kind of switches you should use when working on a project like this? I tried looking into some, but I got so overwhelmed by the options.
If anyone has any recommendations for switches that would be good for this I'd appreciate it! As well as some tips for circuit bending as a whole. Ty!

Assistance I'm out of ideas
I bought this little owl piano, hoping to pitch mod it, however upon opening it up, it seems like the oscillator is integrated into the main chip, and I can't find any on-board connections to it. The only interesting connection i found was if i directed a positive current into pin 7 or 8 of the microcontroller at U3, it would slow the tempo and very slightly change the pitch, however I couldn't figure out how to solder a switch to reproduce the effect. Does anyone else have any ideas, either for pitch modding, for other mods, or for how to wire something to U3?
EDIT: Also, I suppose it's worth noting that there are no pass-through components save for the pins. The south pins go to the keys of the keyboard, the east pins go to the instrument selection, and the west pins go to the preset beats and songs.

Question I’m wondering if this Powershot could be circuit bent
Hey all! I’m going on a trip soon and I was hoping to circuit bend this camera I had sitting away for years. I don’t know if it’s possible as this is a newer model. Any advice would be great, or would I be better going to a second hand shop and finding an older camera and building off that?
