I've been working on a Mesh Warp plugin for GIMP 3.2 for a while and just published . It's a fork of https://github.com/bunnywaffle/gimp-mesh-warp with several additions:

- Non-Destructive Editing— the warp runs as a GIMP 3.2 layer effect.

Reopen it anytime to tweak, no pixel baking.

- Puppet Pins mode — click to place pins, drag to deform locally with adjustable radius.

- Performance improvements, windowed falloff, and various bug fixes.

Linux binaries are ready. Windows and macOS users need to compile the GEGL

operation (`build.sh` handles it if you have MSYS2/Homebrew).

Honest caveats:

- Puppet mode uses a Gaussian RBF, not ARAP — it's great for localised warps (face, hair) but can't rotate limbs like Photoshop's Puppet Warp.

- Requires GIMP 3.2+, because the NDE workflow uses `Gimp.DrawableFilter`.

Not sure if I can ask this here, but I'm trying to find a blend mode for a water shader for my game. Here is an example of what I'm trying to achieve:

• Base Color - 0000AD
• Blending Color - 0079FB
• Result Color - 004159

I'm not sure if there's a blend mode that can do this, so please help me out!

you can see that at below a specific point all the filters aren't applied to the images. each figure is a different layer (copy/pasted) so its strange that it seems to have even stopped applying part way through the same layer. im new to gimp so im not sure what could be causing this? thanks for any help

I've upgraded to 3.2.6. Previously, I was able to select the font I wanted for my text (as you would expect). Now, the only font available to me is Monospace, and I"m not able to change it.

Am I missing something?

So I was making mod for Terraria and wanted to add peashooter as a pet. Drew this sprite, spread it over 11 frames 28x24 each and have no ideas how I'll animate it. Any tips?

After successful addition of non-destructive workflows in 3.X - which work great for my needs, some form of good Smart Selection is kind of the last big thing I want out of GIMP to really say "Yep this is feature complete, I don't need other software!"

(Mostly because me personally, I will not go in and manually outline objects with a lasso tool in 2026, it's just not happening, I refuse)

Paint Select seems like it'd be the killer feature for that, I've played around with it a few times in Playground mode and when it does work it's pretty swell.

I also saw that it's on the roadmap for 3.4, though that's just a maybe and I don't know how well it's progressing. Does anyone have a more info on if it's coming along nicely or is the dev slow/unlikely to hit 3.4?

Hey so I'm trying to enlarge a picture of something but as with all apps the image becomes blurrey and pixelated the more you enlarge it. Does GIMP have a tool trick or workaround to fix or even help improve on this? Im hoping that fuzzy wand can work some magic.

I can do the shape but not fill it! Path tool is fine but as soon as I switch to paint bucket, the shape disappears. How to keep the shape?

Experimenting with the GUI. GIMP looks much cleaner with GTK4. I'm looking forward to seeing what vanilla GIMP 4.0 will look like when it's released.

hi, I was wonder if can I make my own scripts to do a monotonic work on GIMP? For example, look at the photo: can I make a script, which adds one of the symbols on bottom right of every photo in a folder: ✅ or ❌, where the data is written in a .txt?

I’m trying to make a band flyer that looks like this. How do I make my images blend into the page like this?

I do not understand anything from Gimp 3.2. This was always my favorite photo editor. If I import a file. I do not get the file visible on my screen. I have a Mac Mini M2 pro. Gimp 3.2 for Apple Silicon doesn't work good, or I do something wrong. I think it is better to look for another editor.

GIMP 3.0.0 centered an ellipse and made it a path. Wrote IRELAND. Right-clicked that text layer and clicked Text Along Path and the results are too hard for me to understand how to interpret what's really happening.

What's really happening? I had changed the text layer several ways and still got results I couldn't understand. There must be some starting point and Up and Down I'm not seeing. I'd like to predict when Text will be at 1200 O'clock on a circular path or 0600 on a circular path. How do I predict that?

What is going wrong here? I can see the red fill in the layer view, but it doesn't show up on the main image?

Switched to Linux recently (CachyOS, Ryzen 9 5900x, 3060ti, 32gb ram ) and decided to try GIMP. I have 3.2.4 with PhotoGIMP installed and I still can't make heads or tails of why it's so slow.

Managed to get some designs done once or twice before, without PhotoGIMP installed, when it was still slow, but now I'm making a poster (4000x6000px) and I'm baffled at how even when just moving a background image it slowly rasterizes it, not to even mention when I try to scale it (why do I have to go do a menu up top to scale a LAYER?). Tried increasing RAM allocation, and swap folder was already set to SSD.

Brought my file to Photopea and the difference is night and day. Is this...how GIMP usually is?

I'm trying to crop the logo out of the pic. I started up top going counterclockwise. I was able to space the dots out pretty wide and it followed the circle perfectly. Until it didnt. Now I'm practically stacking the dots on each other just to get it to follow the circle. Why? why did it start off doing so good just to turn to shit? This is by far the most frustrating program I have ever tried to learn.

With 3.0 I see they added free select working across entire layer groups and for what I use Gimp for, This is perfect!

Well my problem now is, I will make the shape I need using either the color Select, Free form, or even Pathing, and it just gives me a Rectangle area that surrounds the shape I drew, not the shape itself.

I have reset the tools, I even did a clean wipe and reinstalled Gimp and im still having this behavior. Is this a new bug with 3.2.6 or is there some setting I must have accidentally hit that I can uncheck and fix this.

Its certainly frustrating and for my workflow, going ctrl+c, Ctrl+v on dozens of layers is a bit tedious, and I still need them in that grouping so I can fix stuff down the line.

I'm trying to create a music album cover. Here's what I have so far, edited from some royalty-free images.

My idea was to have the word "VOID" look like it is disintegrating into a bunch of small particles and dispersing away. What I have so far was done with the smudge tool, and I think it's kind of neat but it feels a bit amateur to me and it's not really what I was going for.

Any tips on achieving a particle dispersion/disintegration effect?
