Real Hardware Debugging
EDIT: Asking on Matrix I discovered that the kernel already outputs to serial ports (if they are available)
Hi, I have discovered Redox some time ago but never got to try it until I discovered that Linux and most BSDs are getting devoured by the grey LLM slop, so I figured it was time to get into it.
I have a Dell Optiplex 7010 SFF with a 3rd gen i5, I managed to boot the latest daily desktop build (w/ UEFI), but at the login screen no input device worked.
I want to try and figure out why the USB HID drivers don't cooperate, and I wanted to ask if it's possible to get the console/kernel log out of any COM port. I am lucky that this old thing has an RS-232 port :D
If there is no direct way to get the output from the kernel, would setting the serial port as the UEFI ConOut work, or does the kernel stop writing to it after graphical boot?
