I just received my order from Primrose Yarn Co., and the sock yarn I got is gorgeous, but I’m not pleased with the skein of Homestead Sport (colorway is Celestial Furnace).

My skein is the first pic. Photos 2 and 3 are the product photos from the site. The correct color name is handwritten on the tag of my skein.

I absolutely loved all the skeins in the product photos. I’ve purchased yarn in this style before and was well aware that my skein wouldn’t perfectly match the product photos.

That being said…I feel like the skein I received is nowhere near as vivid as the product photos. They are rich, vibrant oranges, teals, and purples, but the skein I got is all sickly greens and oranges and blues. I’m really bummed.

Am I overreacting, or is it OK to contact the brand to ask to return/exchange the skein?

I got this yarn earlier this week and my plan is to make a fuzzy unicorn sweater.

Help me find this yarn!

Okay, I made many mistakes. I bought three skeins of Cascade 220 Superwash Aran 813 Blue Velvet from a small online craft store, and the three skeins were all they had. I knew I would need more, but they were on sale for a good price, and I had never had dye lot issues before, so I bought them and immediately started my project. Without buying the rest of the yarn I would need. I know. Big mistake.

I have ordered yarn from two separate retailers and both had different dye lots, which on its face is okay, but the yarn itself was almost a completely different tone, and lacks a lot of the brightness of the first three skeins. I really love the color of the original three skeins compared to the others and I would love to find a way to make it work.

The tag from the original three skeins also says make in Turkey, while all the subsequent (non matching) yarn says made in India.

So this is my attempt at screaming into the void for some kind of help or information that could help me track down some yarn that is in the same dye lot, or is at least more similar in color.

I know I made some mistakes, and I've heard advice not to do what I did a million times, but I guess you live and you learn, and I'll never buy my yarn separately again.

I find this yarn very pretty but I don't think that it looks good with either knit or crochet, the samples I've made just look holey and the bumps are wider than the rest of the yarn so it knots easily too.

Any ideas for projects that would look good with this? Thanks in advance!

I was on the Michael’s Canada website and noticed this multicolored yarn (circled in red) but can’t figure out what brand/product it is. I combed the website but didn‘t see anything that looked quite like it.

I have stared lovingly at this Scheepes XL Stonwashed Flow yarn for months. My issue is that I can no longer stand acrylic in my yarns. Does anyone have a suggestion for a extremely similar colorway?

This yarn is like 70% cotton, 30% acrylic, so it's not the worst, but I am concerned I'll have issues with it. Has anyone else used this yarn and liked it? Hated it?

I had bought 2 mini skein sets from Camellia Fiber Co awhile ago and really loved how they work up. Right now they are sold out. I understand theybmight re-stock, but I am looking for alternatives. I have a bunch of other merino in worsted weights but it's all either too thin, slightly more floppy or just a little thicker and more textured. Does anyone have an recommendations?

I got this yarn as a gift a year ago. It is a purple/plum/cream self-striping. It is aran weight, and a sort of wool blend. There isn’t a tag on it, so any help identifying it would be amazing!

Where do you shop? I love our small local yarn store but everything is more expensive. They also carry a lot of baby and children clothing. The yarn wall is like 4-5 meters long. They carry mostly Katia but some Scheepjes and Durable as well.

Today I bought some sock yarn for €4,99/skein, I googled the yarn and I could find it for €3,40/skein online.

My KFO yarn came in today, I got heavy merino in Powder and planned to combine it with their soft silk mohair in Cloud. When I opened the package the Powder color feels much more beige/cream than pinkish as the skein and swatch images from their site suggest. I’m not gonna lie I’m a little disappointed, I wanted a super soft pink sweater but feel this will lean much more cream like.

Has anyone else had this experience with KFO? I’ve bought from them before and haven’t had this happen.

I’m testing a pattern which calls for fingering weight yarn w a good drape so i bought drops alpaca silk. I like the color and it’s super wispy but the brushed hairs make it pretty difficult to deal with. I combined it with crochet thread but now I’m thinking it’s made it too thick and stiff—any tips on how to make the drops alpaca silk more workable? every time i frog it gets stuck :/

I'm knitting a "patchwork" blanket. I have 6 panels to make: 3 in teal and 3 in the colorway DEEP WATERS. However, I only have enough yarn for 2 of the 3 DEEP WATERS panels.

My lovely partner spotted & then gifted me these 2 HUGE skeins of deep waters at a thrift months ago, and unfortunately even though it's "in stock" on yarnspirations, it's actually not, my order was canceled and refunded.

I know the chances of finding the amount of yardage needed for the last panel, will cost me more than it's worth to have it perfectly match, as these dont come in the huge skeins anymore and right now people want $15ish for 2 very small skeins & less than half the yardage I need.

It's a patchwork blanket after all.

As long as it has some overlap in colors, I'm okay with that. I was thinking caron anniversary cake in teal-rific, but I don't need 1k yards, and I don't *love* the neon yellow in there, as my customer specifically requested a deep berry magenta color as the final border of the blanket.

It seems the best almost match, with the yardage I need, would be caron chunky cakes in turquoise swirl, but it does lack the deeper hues of teal, gray, and royal blue, plus it seems more stripe forward rather than an ombre variegated look. This wouldn't alter the design inspo tooo much, and I could vary the color a bit more by switching between the outside pull vs center pull.
