I've been basically looking for the modern equivalent of what you're describing for years. Recently Agent64 came out as a splitscreen shooter but that really is a goldeneye feel and doesn't really scratch the itch.

A few years back I started developing one myself. Game is called Skuffle and will have a demo coming out in a week or so. 4 player split-screen and online combo, bots, TrenchBroom (for custom maps) and steam workshop support.

Wishlisted 👍 Yeah it's a shame there's so few options out there. Straftat has a lot of potential, but no splitscreen or bots 🫠

The quake remaster has splitscreen.

For quake3 use spearmint, it has splitscreen support

For UT99 run multiple copies of the game and a nucleus co-op/proto input to allocate contollers/mkb to each instance.
