Discussion what PVP AFPS has currently the biggest playerbase?
The title is self-explanatory. I haven't played an arena FPS in a while and I would love to experience this genre again. I am scared that the answer is quake live because I didn't like that game very much. If Quake live is the answer to my question I will have to give the game another chance but if there is another more modern option I would rather try the other option 😅

Quake Champions for sure, it's not a lot but you will have no trouble finding a match in popular gamemodes. I'm personally playing it basically every day.

I actually bought the Master Chief Collection about a year ago to play the singleplayer campaign but I never did. Is the multiplayer scene still active?

Games with populated-ish servers (depending where you live): QL, QC, UT99, UT2004.
Those are the easiest games to just hop on and join a server/mm queue and play with randos. Not all gamemodes are active.
But many other afps games still have small active communities, you’ll just mostly have to look around peak hours or join pug servers to get games. Just really depends what gamemodes you’re interested in and stuff like that. A lot of games if you just sit in an open server people will join eventually.

Haha damn I forgot to say that I regularly play Straftat. Very good recommendation, I love that game to death. Probably one of the best gaming experiences of my life ^

weird suggestion but very interesting. Never heard that this game has an active multiplayer community

Actually hl even had a (relatively) big competitive community back in the days, there are mods similar to quake promod, they still do exist but with little amount of players. But if you are looking for casual experience - usual multiplayer is a good choice. It even has servers full of people (on eu at least) the only problem is that mostly there is only one mainstream map being played, I'm not sure how it came to this point and why such a poor choice of map rotation when hl has so many awesome and unique maps. Also important to know that most servers have movement and some mechanics patched due to developer's updates on default settings, it's better to look for sv with uncapped bhop speed, moreover you can bump into a server with hundreds of plugins and custom things, where gameplay starts looking like star wars. I would recommend avoiding such, but at the end you can do whatever you like. I really like half-life deep mechanics, one can spend so much time mastering those and it's so satisfying to perform them. Like you can literally send enemy's rockets back to them if you use your laser dot or shoot opponents through walls with tau cannon. It's very sad that for the majority hl 1 is known only for singleplayer mode

Do you love straftat? How come?
I thought I loved arena FPSes until I found this subreddit and now it seems like what I like is very different from what’s popular nowadaysÂ

Quake Champions is the other option
