I normally don’t have particularly heavy periods, in fact my periods are pretty stock standard. By that I mean that they usually five days, the second day is usually the heaviest, I don’t get cramps or pain etc. even at my heaviest day, it was nothing compared to what happened last night.
Yesterday, while I was in the shower, I already noticed that my period seemed to be different I guess ? At one point it almost seemed to shoot out rather than just gradually flow, and it started running down my legs. I mentioned this also because normally when I'm in the shower, my period like “stops” I guess. You know how water does that sorta like stopping of it (idk the proper word). Anyway, it wasn’t doing that and i felt like something was off but I ended up assuming that it was probably going to be a heavier period than usual.
Then last night, I had three separate episodes where I was lying down, stood up, and it was as if I had peed myself but it was just blood immediately gushing down my legs. The metric of soaking a pad doesn’t feel like it works here because the blood seemed to come out so suddenly that it was basically bypassing the pad and going straight down my legs and actually leaving a trail behind me. I ended up having to change my pants three different times because it was completely soiled. My bed and sheets were miraculously fine because it was only really when I stood up that I “soiled myself”. And I had to shower all three times to get all the blood off.
The third time I went back to bed, I’ve had to wear like really tight bike shorts on top of period undies on top of pads just so I don’t risk it running down my legs again.
I also developed a pain in my lower left back which doesn’t feel like cramps. It actually feels weirdly muscular like I’ve pulled a muscle but it’s painful enough that when I move my neck or when I try to walk it does hurt a bit.
I should also note here that I have been significantly more exhausted the past couple weeks like I’ve needed days of sleep to catch up on things (part of this could be autistic burnout and also because of not taking my ADHD med some days but this tiredness that I am experiencing is way out of the norm for me)
To be honest, all of this is way outside of the norm for me, so I’m kind of just trying to figure out how to explain this to a doctor but also trying to figure out what I should do. My mum told me that she used to get like really heavy periods like this and that it’s just like a heavy period but it doesn’t feel like that.
I also have a history of having like a grapefruit sized dermoid cyst on my left ovary and I’ve also been tested for like PCOS/PMOS in the past (and the only reason I wasn’t diagnosed with it was because I was one cyst short - when they used to count the cysts)
Anyway I have a telehealth appointment with my doctor in like an hour and a half but I’m just wondering if that’s a good idea and what I should say to like get across the gravity to the doctor that this is not my normal.
Thank you
