GIMP better UIs
Is there a version of gimp with a better UI like maybe a user made theme or something. These endless text menus that you have to google and try 5 times before you get a half right explanations just so you can make a red square or make the eraser erase instead of doing nothing is so painful. Like I imagine to get into hell you have to make it through an UI like this every day for it to start over different.

Steep learning curves tend to be steep.
Maybe name just one thing (at a time) to ask for help with? Laying it all out at once feels more like venting. For example:
make the eraser erase instead of doing nothing
The behavior of the Eraser tool actually varies depending on whether your layer has an embedded alpha channel. So you need to check for this before using it: if you right-click its entry in the Layers list, the context menu will have options to Add or Remove its alpha channel. Layers without alpha also display their names in bold (not the best way to indicate this, sure).

I started using Photon Studio as my free Photoshop alternative, it's very good. For me it replaced Photogimp which helps improve the standard Gimp experience with a Photoshop UI design. Go check them out, both are good, but my vote right now would be Photon Studio.

Idk what are you on about, I use basic UI all the time and never had problems, mostly if you know what “settings” and “advanced settings” of each tool mean. Like there is literally all explanation are in the descriptions of tools, even if they are short, they’re more than enough to get what they do. I can get a big if you never used programs like Photoshop/Inkscape, so many things would be new for you, but if we look in reality this program is one of the easiest of explanation everything (not only to say that GIMPorg also has all info you would ever need which might be hard to get, like Layer Masks)
