I recently dug out my old Game Boy, but it looks like the battery is swollen. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Did you try to power it on anyway, or did you replace the battery right away? If you swapped it out, where did you get your replacement? Any advice would be appreciated!

I have the Japanese e-Reader+ and I’m trying to use it with Doubutsu no Mori e+ to get villagers in. Anytime I try to connect my GameCube to the e-Reader with the link cable to my e-Reader inside my GBA, it will pick up a signal for a couple of seconds then give me an error. The e-Reader shows up perfectly fine on my GBA and used to work 2 years ago, but has been sitting in the attic for pretty much that whole time. Should I replace it?

edit: lmao I completely forgot you have to prep the e reader in the post office before you scan. that was the issue

So I was testing my Game Boy player for my GameCube and I wanted to finally see a childhood favorite, Wacky Races (GBC) on the big screen. But it just wouldn't load, instead hanging on a white screen after the Game Boy Logo.

I thought, huh maybe GBC is the issue but nope, other GBC carts worked. So I put it in my actual GBA and the same thing happens. Now I'm wondering if it somehow broke the cart, but nope, plays on my GBC perfectly.

Is there some kind of compatibility issue with Wacky Races *specifically* that stops it from running on GBA?

I'm trying to replace my GBA SP shell and the old one had the hinge frame braked.

I was able to remove the MB and so on, however, I'm stucked in the image situation.

Any idea of how can i remove the hinges from the broken frame ?

Pick this GBA SP at Savers for $5.99 originally came with a copy of Pokemon Ruby (not a fan of pokemon so I put it aside) and this extended battery pack. I ended picking up Crash Bandicoot Purple and fallen in love with it. Been carrying this SP everywhere with me and been trynna beat the game. 49% complete btw now.

My GBA is on his 3rd restoration... Still not alive. Soon to give up on that one and pick another one.

I have worked hard restoring this Game Boy pocket tbh it wasn't working before and now it does 💪

So firstly as you may be able to see that there is a lot of corrosion around the capacitor which also needed to be changed basically the board was pretty shocking 😭

I have also installed the new speaker into this and just gave it another good general clean it took me about an hour.

it's well worth it and it's so satisfying when fixing these!

I just picked up a copy of battleship for the DMG, sometimes it works fine, sometimes it reads but doesn’t boot fully, sometimes it plays for a little and then dies, and sometimes it doesn’t work at all. Could this be a dirty contacts issue or is it likely something wrong with the pcb?

I recently bought Fire Red and started playing, and I haven't used the console in probably years. So I don't know/remember how long the battery lasts, and I've been playing with low battery to kinda test it. And right now I go to open my game and I get this message ("Save deleted") and I don't understand what happened. Also when I reached for the GB the button was on "On" but I'm sure I saved and turned off the last time I played 😭Also I searched on Google and it said that non-original games tend to delete saves, but I don't how if that's true.

Please help me!! So I can stop this from happening again.

I just got my GB Operator today and was testing it out with my collection. I tried about 15 games with no problem, just seeing if it read and recognized the games, and to see if they’re counterfeits or not. The last game I entered was Legend of The River King for gameboy. It read it and said it was official. I then selected play to boot it and test out that feature. To my surprise it said that there wasn’t any save data. I was confused since I played it on my gameboy about a month ago and it had my 4 year old save file on it. I then pulled out my gameboy and it also said there weren’t any save files. Did I use the go operator wrong? I didn’t select any option to delete a save or anything like that. I just kept swapping out games to see if it recognized them. Some games I had to insert 2-3 times to get it to read, when my gameboy always reads them on the first try.

Just pulled my Gameboy out of the attic. OFF Road is such a good quick game. Now to find the rest of my games.

I just recently picked up a gb advance sp 101, from a very reputable seller with a 30 day warranty. I tested it out with a game I bought in the store and everything was working fine. However when I changed the cartridge out to play something else the screen repeatedly froze and started making the 'game removed' screech. I've never owned a Gameboy of any kind and was trying to figure out what could be causing the issue.

I don't have the skills or confidence to take apart the system, especially with how much I paid for it. I've tested it with three different games, all from different sellers/shops, and each freezes within 20ish minutes of playing.

I live in the middle of nowhere and the store I bought it from is a few hours away. Should I just call and see about returning it? I 100% need a gba to play all the games I've collected, but I'm fairly certain the device is the issue.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
