Hey everyone,
tldr: More accounts are DMing users who post claiming they can authenticate and then push the results from their app. This sub has nothing to do with them, has banned them for it, and they usually want you to sign up for their "service" which you already get for free here. At best its unsolicited marketing, at worst it will be a scam. Report to reddit, report to the mods to make sure they are banned, ignore or block the users who do this.
Mods have been receiving messages that users posting keep receiving direct messages from others offering to authenticate, value, grade, and whatever else their cards. Sometimes they ask for more photos, sometimes they just use what has been posted. The funny part is that they often use ai to determine fake or authentic and can often be wrong.
Anyways, this post is mostly for awareness to be suspect of any DMs you get claiming to help verify authenticity and always check the accounts. Report to reddit if you can, block if you can, but please please please, do not give anyone money who is telling you they can determine the authenticity of your cards over the internet.
This sub is not, nor will it ever be, affiliated with any kind of paid service for crowd sourced information. Thats not what this sub is for, nor is it helpful to people just trying to understand if a card is fake.
Feel free to comment anything that you feel needs to be addressed in the sub to be looked into. Thanks everyone for being helpful!

Thought I would share a little cheat sheet that illustrates the biggest differences in font that I look for when evaluating the legitimacy of PSA Slabs. The K, G, and 7 are always the biggest/quickest giveaways for me, but there are some others that can be easily identified as well. Feel free to share this image with anyone that might need it ❤️
Happy Hunting!

Hey everyone! I just bought an English Moonbreon online and I'd like help checking if it's legit. The card feels a bit heavier and stiffer than my Bubble Mew (Paldean Fates, Brazilian Portuguese version, pulled from a sealed product). I know they're from different eras and possibly different print runs, so the comparison might not be fair, but I don't have any other Sword & Shield cards to compare with.

I had this card in a bulk lot I bought. I’m convinced it’s fake because the holo looks awful. The inside layer is black which is the only odd thing. A card shop I went to today showed me one exactly like this with the bad holo and said it’s authentic, and I’m not buying it, but I just need confirmation that I’m not crazy. Thank you all, and if you all have any resources to show the card store owner please send them my way because he’s open to feedback. If it is real I’ll eat my words and buy a lottery ticket

I'm pretty sure this card is fake. The copyright text looks off and the texture looks too consistent, although Charizard has little to no texture.
I just need to be sure before I contact the Vinted seller 🤦♀️

No biggie if it is, bought it for $50 when I was a young drunkard.
My issue is that I went to my first ever card show with my kiddo recently, the big show runner himself tried to convince me it was fake and offered $50 as compensation for the original price I paid - which immediately had alarms going off in my head.
He pulled out a loupe and everything, and trying to tell me it was fake because the shading/grey of the 'N' on the backside was "sus" - something I've never heard when someone is trying to authenticate a Japanese card. Do feel free to educate me if I was in the wrong! :)
*Sorry about poor pic quality, none of the lights in my apartment are currently working but if y'all need a better shot to sleuth, lemme know and I'll do my best!

Wish we could flag these types of sellers before it's to late.

I know the card has a rainbow tint to it but does this seem like too much? I'm newer to collecting and just bought this, sorry for the silly question

I bought this card in 2021 and wondered if it might be a fake; I’m not actually sure if counterfeits of this card were already circulating back then. Sorry about the terrible lighting.

Picked up this Ponyta on Vinted but seeing it next to my non-first edition cards there are surprisingly a lot of differences in print quality that make me wary.
- the border around the pokemon image is not crisp
- the energy symbols are not crisp
- the pokeball on the back is a “textured” print
- the TM marking on the back is not crisp
Added some comparison pictures at the end of my non 1st ed card (left) next to the 1st ed (right).
I’m unsure if this is just how 1st ed prints looked like, or if I’m dealing with a fake? Does anyone have a genuine copy of this card that I could compare it with?

Bought this off of eBay for £125 with seal slightly teared.
It’s arrived today and every two packs opened had the same first four cards in the same order. Pack one and two share the first same four cards. Packs three and four shared the same four cards, pack five and six and seven and eight same.
This seems highly suspicious but this is my first ETB.
Thoughts?

I saw these two online and want to buy them but they feel a bit off to me, but im not an expert at spotting fake cards.
I checked a few other listings on multiple Platforms but cant tell, idk if it’s the lighting at this point.
The last picture is a different listing and in my opinion they look a bit different, but how I mentioned, maybe its the lighting.
So i need ur help.

I just got a Chinese simplified pack of cards and pulled a gengar from the 30th. Only issue is I can’t tell if it’s fake or not. I checked another card from the same pack and it has a faint black line

Hey guys,
Two weeks ago I traded my pikachu van gogh and now the person I traded it with is telling me the card is fake. I asked the guy who sold it to ( who I trust) and he told there's no way, that he sold 5 of them sealed (mine included) and they were all original. I unsealed mine for grading but figured I wouldnt get a 10 so I never sent it, what do you guys think? Is my card fake?
