Suggestion Could someone help me find a qt theme that looks like this ?
The updated or better version of this by author is also gtk only I think. So any theme that is of this style shadoes rounded corners skeumorph basically the same but can have different colors or stuff and works for qt applications.
KDE Apps and Projects Porthole: switch SSH port forwards on and off from the Plasma system tray
I kept a terminal open for `ssh -L` most of the day, so I made a small tray widget for it.
- One switch per forward. Each tunnel runs as a systemd user service, so it survives a Plasma restart.
- Shows the state: active, connecting, or the error ssh reported.
- A second section lists the ports listening on your machine (Vite, Next.js, Docker…), with Open / Copy / Stop.

Built with help from Claude Code; I tested it on my own setup(CachyOS+Plasma6).
First release, feedback and bug reports welcome.

KDE Apps and Projects I made a KDE Plasma right-click file converter for Dolphin (inspired by Windows FileConverter)
Hi r/kde,
One tool I sorely missed after moving from Windows to KDE Plasma was FileConverter—the ability to quickly right-click audio, video, images, or documents in your file manager and convert them immediately without firing up heavy editors or uploading to sketchy conversion websites.
To solve this, I built dolphin-file-converter.
What it does:
- Dolphin Integration: Integrates into Dolphin’s right-click context menu via KIO service menus. You can pick quick actions like Convert to → MP3, or open the full dialog with Convert….
- Drag-and-Drop GUI: Built natively with Qt (PySide6) to match the look and feel of Plasma 6. Drag and drop any files, set per-file output formats, adjust compression/quality sliders, and customize your own presets.
- Powered by Standard Tools: Uses
ffmpeg(audio/video),imagemagick7 (images/PDFs), andlibreoffice(documents) under the hood. Formats whose dependencies aren't installed are cleanly disabled rather than failing silently. - Safe Batching: Conversions run in temporary isolated folders and atomically move into place only on success, preventing half-written or corrupt files. Original files are never overwritten unless requested.
- Desktop Notifications: Fires a native
libnotifyalert when a large batch completes.
Installation:
- From Source: Clones and installs via
./install.sh(installs cleanly to~/.local/binand user KIO menus with--uninstallsupport). - Arch Linux: PKGBUILD is ready in
packaging/aur/(makepkg -si).
GitHub: https://github.com/agopalareddy/dolphin-file-converter
I'd love for you to try it out on Plasma 6 and share your feedback, format suggestions, or feature requests!

Community Content I missed the PowerToys color picker after switching to Linux, so I built one: Archtoys
Hey everyone! When I moved from Windows to Linux, one of the things I missed most was PowerToys’ Color Picker, so I decided to build my own: Archtoys.
You can see all the features it provides on the github page
It also works on Wayland. Since Wayland doesn't allow apps to continuously watch the screen, Archtoys takes a screenshot when you start picking and lets you pick from that. You still get the magnifier and preview.
I use it daily on Fedora KDE, but it should work on GNOME, X11, and other Linux distros too. Despite the name, it's not Arch-only.
Install:
- Fedora: "sudo dnf copr enable mujtaba1i/archtoys && sudo dnf install archtoys"
- Arch: "paru -S archtoys-bin"
- Other distros: AppImage from the releases page
GitHub: https://github.com/Mujtaba1i/Archtoys
I'm hoping to eventually turn Archtoys into a PowerToys-style toolkit for Linux.
What PowerToys tool do you miss most on Linux?

Question Best phone and distro to use Plasma Mobile on?
Basically what the title says, I've always enjoyed KDE Plasma Desktop (and recently Plasma Bigscreen), so I've been curious about Plasma Mobile for a while, and wanted to try it, but when I did, it kept crashing on my PC, so it might be because of a lack of exposed touch drivers (as the desktop I tried it on has none)????
Also, does it support Android in any way?
Thank you for reading!

Community Content Ported dolphin to macos and it's surpricingly usable.
I have to use macOS for my day job. After trying for about a year, I still can't get used to it. The quality of the system, especially window manager and file manager(finder), is just not as good as what we have in Linux world. (btw, vorssaint is an open-source tool that fixes a lot of shit.) So one day I came up with this idea: can I port my favorite file manager, dolphin, to macOS can replace finder entirely? The answer is yes, but not as good as what you get on Linux.
The porting process was quite smooth, a few files were patched and it just worked. Things that work now: * "Show in Finder" now opens dolphin. * Builds as a proper .app bundle, launches from Finder/Dock/open * open -R <file> reveals the file in Dolphin * "Open Terminal Here" picks up Ghostty
But obviously, it won't be perfect. For example, "Remember application association" checkbox genuinely does nothing. Because KIO writes the freedesktop mimeapps.list, which only KDE/GNOME apps read.

Fluff Does kde team/devs have any infrastructure(s) to use LLMs for faster code review with human oversight?
Edit: oh, the downvotes. Please look at the flair. I am aware that ai is not popular among the community and just discussing this is not the end of the world.
Original post:
Curious to know, i am not saying that it should be used primarily to write code, that would be a disaster but as a tool for assistance considering how big the kde project is, to a team who knows what they are doing, to find/fix bug faster etc.
What's the overall opinion on these?

Question Dolphin: Is there a way to have separate saved sessions/profiles?
I am currently on Windows and use a file manager called OneCommander, which I absolutely love. Unfortunately, it does not support Linux, and I am getting increasingly tired of Windows, so I am considering switching to Linux.
One thing I am concerned about is whether Dolphin has a similar feature, I use on a daily basis. They call is saved windows, but it would be better to describe it as session profiles.
The easiest way I can describe it is that I can create separate profiles, and each profile remembers its own set of open tabs and the folders/paths I was working with.
When I open a profile, it restores the windows/tabs and paths from the last time I used that profile.
The important part is that I can have multiple profiles open simultaneously in separate windows. So I could have my Private profile open in one window and my work profile open in another, and drag/copy files between them as needed. Each window maintains its own session independently.
Does Dolphin have anything similar? Or is there another KDE/Linux file manager that supports this kind of workflow?

News Kde Plasma Windows 98 Theme
Hi, today I set up a Windows 98 theme on KDE Plasma.
Here is what I used:
Global Theme: Reactionary 98
Colors: Win98
Application Style: MS Windows 9x
Window Decorations: Windows 98
Icons: Mephins 98
Cursors: ModernXP2
Extras: I set the application launcher to the classic style; also, the global theme (Reactionary 98) handles most of the elements.

Question Hi, I wanted to share an idea for creating a Text-Only Task Manager
It’s more of an idea than an actual implementation – I’m not a programmer, and all I did was copy the directory of an existing plasmoid to .local, start editing the Task.qml file and change a few lines in it. It turned out just as I wanted, but the code is probably a bit of a mess.
Edit.
And one of the downsides is that you can’t change the order of the launchers because there aren’t any icons you can drag and drop.
Btw. if someone want to see it - there is Task.qml file that you need to replace in .local/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.taskmanager/contents/ui/

Question is there a checkered plasma style that is colorable? if not how would i go about trying to make one?
ive been trying to figure out how to do this but there seems to be little to no relevant information that i can find, so i either assume i have to make one myself or it’s impossible to make one.

General Bug When I am updating my system, I press update all and on the bottom, shut down. It doesn't do that anymore. It just locks the PC, so I have to login again and manually press Update and Shut Down.
I don't know who's fault it is Fedora's or KDE's.
But it worked before, and doesn't work now.
