They are integrated in the touchpad. It works, but i guess it's less comfortable than physical buttons.
It's ok for me tho, i deactivated the nipple + trackpoint buttons to get a big touchpad bc i like gesture control more nowadays.

I usually get around 10-12h, depending on workload and power profile (less on performance mode). Just coding in battery safer mode and 40% brightness gives me around 14h.
It's not a battery monster, it's made for low weight (carbon series) which is phenomenal for such usecases.

Dang that's pretty low for a mobile chip. Which cpu is inside? Have you considered an ARM based laptop like a snapdragon Lenovo and then install Linux? The battery life you could easily get 48 hours.

That doesn't fit my usecase.
ARM is great for everyday use (browsing, office, whatever) but as a dev it's a PITA to translate anything you do from x86 and then debug that shit. Also, general software compatibillity is still a huge problem on ARM, despite projects like ALARM or fex.
