TLP Help Request

I’m running Cachy on a second hand ThinkPad I recently got and thought I’d try TLP to improve the battery life. I works quite well but I had an odd issue after installing it: after shutting down and closing the laptop lid it would restart. It’s definitely TLP as it stopped happening when I reverted back to the original power profile daemon. Has anyone else come across this issue or know what in TLP is causing it?

Things I have tried:

I tried different kernels, both the LTS and BORE kernel

I have disabled the runtime PM for PCIe devices

None of these have have stopped the issue.

You can maybe post the specs of your Thinkpad and how much battery Capacity your battery still have that is probably the most important factor there?

You have the Info App on kde it will list everything then from there you can make a copy and paste and in the system tray on the battery icon there should be also the battery Health if you are using KDE.

It's a ThinkPan P14s Gen 5 with Ultra 7 155H, RTX 500 Ada, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and 57Wh battery (100% health). I get about 4 hours when charged to 80%, using the stock CachyOS power profile daemon.

That looks pretty new for a second hand ThinkPad it's probably the Nvidia GPU sucking a lot of power also when not in use I am assuming that.

Try to disable the Nvidia GPU in the Bios if you don't need it all the time that could improve the battery life a lot if that is possible at all? And then when you need the Nvidia GPU just enable it again that should be safe to do because you have anyway the integrated Intel GPU to use for normal tasks.

I'm thinking of doing that if I can't solve the TLP issue.
