Nixos isn't allowing me to login to root even after changing the password with chroot

Basically the title. I have no idea why this is happening. It happened after a fresh install. Any help is welcomed. Thanks.

I had a weird quirkiness like that but at a different point.

Did you make sure you run sudo nixos-enter --root /path/to/mounted/partition -c 'passwd root' ?
