Seeking Advice Measuring small research compounds
How do you guys measure mg's (nootropics)? ±8 is very acceptable. Not particularly thrilled to use 500€ for a scale.

When you’re measuring compounds at smaller scales, volumetric dosing can be a practical option if you don’t want to invest in an expensive scale right away. For powders, mixing a known amount into a solution and then measuring by volume can give fairly consistent results, especially if a variance of around ±8 mg is acceptable for your needs.
You could also check whether a nearby university or community college offers access to lab equipment. Some facilities allow outside users to use their equipment for a reasonable fee. Online research communities can also be useful for learning about different measurement approaches that are affordable while still providing the level of accuracy you need.
I’ve noticed that the amount of precision people look for often depends on what they’re trying to accomplish, and finding a practical balance between accuracy and cost is a pretty common challenge in DIY research spaces.
