OC r/Vermis and AI generated content
Hear ye, hear ye! Time for the annual mod announcement!
First of all, I would like to congratulate everyone on reaching 5000 members, and wishing everyone a merry Christmas (should they celebrate it). Never would I have expected this community to grow so large when I created it, and it has been an absolute blast seeing all of the wonderful content created by the talented artists, musicians, writers and game developers in this subreddit...
HOWEVER
It has now come to my attention that AI generated content has been popping up more and more on the feed, and as such, I wished to make the mod team's (aka, my) opinion on the subject matter clearer. For those who do not wish to read through all this, a new rule has been added to the subreddit.
AI content on this subreddit will no longer be tolerated, and you will get no second chances should you post some.
I will not preach to you about AI and its uses, wether it is evil, or good, wether it's a bubble or not... That is not what the subreddit was meant for. What it was meant for was, and still is, appreciating awesome art created by awesome people, which is what unites us all under one banner regardless of our differences. To use AI is to spit in the face of those values.
Use AI in your daily life if you want. Ask @Grok "Is this true?" if you need to. Make Gemini read you your coworker's email if you're that tired...
But do not bring it in here. Believe what you will but, as long as I have power here, art will remain in the hands of artists instead of prompters, at least in this subreddit.
I encourage anyone who spots AI content to report it to the mod team immediately... However, I also would like to remind people to exercise caution as false reports will not be looked kindly upon either.
That is all for today. Happy 2026, everyone, and once again, Merry Christmas!

OC Horse-rider priest
"They do their walk every 6 days on their outskirt by the woods, you immediately notice it by the stench of their incense. The smell is like sulfur and rot, makes your stomach turn. The days we can get nearer we hear them chanting something and waving a sort of plant around, sometimes they're accompanied by 2 other 'priests' If we can call them that... we can't pinpoint why yet. Our eyes start to burn and the smell is overpowering if we stay too long near the mist that accursed horse expels from the wound. The next day we won't be able to scout and the shadows will move by themselves. The blessed trinkets and sacraments you gave us don't do anything in this land, I wouldn't be surprises if we catch something. Makes me shiver, I really hope we can go home soon..."
From a leader scout to an scholar on an outpost near the castle of a demon.

Vermis Template for how to dispute import charges for your Hollow Press / Vermis Order
Hey everyone, USPS tried to charge me duty fees for my vermis book. The fee was only $19, but I didn't want to pay it because I knew it was illegitmate. If you order to the U.S., you'll likely be hit with this bogus fee. USPS will email you and send you letters trying to collect. If this happens, you can use the below template to dispute the charge. They will tell you that if you dispute, and it's determined you still have to pay, they'll hit you with a $90-$150 processing fee. While factual, I believe this is meant to scare you into paying. Full transcript and templates below. I hope this can be useful for any Hollow Press orders also.
Here is the template and the first email to send to their dispute team, the communications you receive should have an email listed that you can use to dispute:
Dear FedEx Dispute Team,
I am writing to formally dispute the assessment of Chapter 99 duties applied to the item on FedEx Invoice Number [ADD YOUR INVOICE NUMBER]. The item in question is an art book, which is explicitly excluded from these tariff actions as an informational material.
Please review the following regulatory authority supporting this exclusion:
- Authority: Executive Order 14389, Subheading 9903.3.01 through 9903.3.11.
- Applicable Text: The regulation explicitly states that duties do not apply to: “Articles that are informational materials, including but not limited to publications, films, posters, phonograph records, photographs, microfilm, microfiche, tapes, compact disks, CD ROMs, artworks, and news wore feeds.”
Because an art book is a printed publication containing artwork, it satisfies multiple prongs of this explicit statutory exemption. Therefore, the ad valorem duties applied under this Chapter 99 subheading do not legally apply to this merchandise.
Please submit a Post-Summary Correction (PSC) or protest to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to remove these duties, cancel the incorrect charges, and issue a corrected invoice.
Thank you for your prompt assistance in resolving this entry error.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
They'll probably send you some version of this in response:
Dear Valued FedEx Customer,
Thank you for contacting FedEx Disputes.
Our records show that the duty amount in question is less than $20.00.
If you wish to proceed with an entry correction, please note this may be subject to a $90-$150 processing fee for correction US Customs & Border Protection if deemed customer caused(No additional fee may apply if it a FedEx/customs cause)
Kindly confirm whether you would like to continue with the correction process under these terms.
Thank you,
FedEx U.S. Duty and Tax Department (Enterprise Business Services)
In response to the previous email:
Simply tell them to proceed and they should drop the fee. I hope this helps!

OC Sanctuary - Because There Must Be More to This Life Than Meagre Death
Hail, Kingbreakers!
One of the main mechanics in Kingbreaker is the death and resurrection system. As is the OSR tradition, death is commonplace within the game, and players are expected to die over and over again.
However, I was inspired by the recent trend in roguelike and Soulslike video games to implement a resurrection system that also provides the player with a home base. In the Sanctuary, Kingbreakers will finally be able to rest, repair their armour and weapons, patch up their wounds, and seek a dreamless sleep. As they go through the game, they will also find and recruit allies who will go on to dwell within the Sanctuary, turning it from a pretty standard "checkpoint" mechanic to a thriving NPC hub.
Let me know what you think!
OC Dignified burial
I decided to revisit a piece of concept art I did a few months ago and add a background, playing with lighting and color curve to give it a more retro aesthetic. I hope I succeed.
The story is about a horse carrying the coffin of a child seeking a proper burial, but all who try die before achieving their goal.

Vermis Gloom Gate on Playdate
Hi there,
I juste came across this game because I'm interested in a niche console, the Playdate, and I found the graphic style and universe is in the same vibe as Vermis or horripilant that I played recently.
https://play.date/games/gloom-gate/
It looks less dark but the dungeon exploration could be fun and the 'crank' gameplay could add something. Unfortunately the device is out of order since a while (and kinda pricey)

OC New zine in the works
Started my journey here with a very plastiboo esque style, and as time went on i came to the realization that the best way to respect him and his craft is experimenting with my own style and build worlds with unique stories and characters. So i made a zine about weapon wielding monkeys.
Ps: I’m a graphic designer and type designer, linking my ig if some of y’all want to see cool stuff - @barel_simchon
