I’m completely renovating my bathroom but keeping the same layout. I attached photos of the current bathroom, some inspo, and tiles/materials I might choose.
As u can see storage is big thing, so I’m trying to make use of the vanity, mirror, toilet wall and shower niche without making the bathroom feel crowded.
Easy maintenance is a big part as well, I love the look of the small tiles in the shower, but I do not want to cover the whole bathroom in small tiles because of the grout and cleaning.
My biggest issue is what to do with the walls outside the shower when it comes to tiles.
Would love advice on my forever bathroom
Overall ideas:
Blue light colors to make it feel clean and more spacious
Shower room instead of a glass door ( wall with a small arch opening)
Square blue tiles inside the shower
Fixed frosted window in the shower + recessed niche for shampoo/products
Hung toilet with a “hidden” storage cabinet above
Classic brown vanity with storage
Mirror with a hidden cabinet for even more storage
Soft lights beside the mirror
Tiny extra clarification:
The wall behind the toilet would come forward slightly to house the system, but only a small section, so I’d use the extra depth for a hidden cabinet above the toilet.
My biggest issue is what to do with the walls outside the shower when it comes to tiles. I’m not sure whether I should tile them, use a bathroom safe paint, use larger tiles, etc. I’m also concerned about humidity and long term maintenance.

Hi! I Have a travertine shower. What's the very best sealer for this? Thanks!

My husband used Zep on our bathroom stone and I had no idea it would stain or corrode it. The stone turned whitish and blotchy. I’ve already scrubbed it, but it won't come out. I need help… how can I remove this stain?

This is my 2nd bathroom. I'd like to remove the bathtub and change it to a walk-in shower, with new tiles on the wall of course.
I like the storage behind the mirror, but doesn't like the old mirror. If I replace the mirror (and I like a single big mirror), any recommendations on maintaining the storage? Or move it somewhere else? BTW, the bathroom does have a good sized closet right behind the door though.
The toilet is maybe 30 years old when the house was built. It's still functioning fine. Should I replace it?
The vanity is fine. I kind of like it. It can be an easy repaint and hardware upgrades. But the countertop is kind of old style. I'm not sure what to do here. Any thoughts?
Any recommendations on the colors and designs or this bathroom are welcome. Thanks!

I’m going to do a bathroom renovation soon and would much rather rip out the tub and use the space for a large walk in shower. It would be easier and less expensive to do it this way, and far more to our liking and usage. We can keep the same footprint and use high end materials to make it upscale and spa like. There is a tub in another bathroom in the house. My question is: how do homeowners feel about tubs in the primary bathroom? Google gives mixed messages. Friends and family say fine to ditch the tub. I just don’t want to make a mistake that could cost me down the road (when it’s time to sell). Thoughts?
EDIT; Thank you everyone for your input. It’s been very helpful. I’ve read every comment and taken all the advice into consideration. I’ve decided to go forward with making it a large, walk in, accessible shower. There is a nice tub in a large bathroom downstairs, so I think, based on feedback and reading about trends, I can safely do what I want and make the primary a lovely spa like shower. I appreciate all the opinions.

There are basically two main types of hair catchers for shower drains: Ones that sit over the drain and ones that sit inside it.
An over-drain catcher sits on top of the drain opening, so nothing is sitting inside the pipe. Water can run straight through, and the hair collects on top where you can see it and pull it off. This can work better when the shower floor is badly sloped or the drain is pretty shallow.
An in-drain catcher sits inside the drain. The hair gets caught down there before it reaches the pipe, so you have hair sitting on top of the drain itself. The downside is that you can't really see the amount of hair that has gathered, so you have to remember to check it. The fit is also a factor here since if the catcher is not sitting properly or isn't the right size for the drain, you can end up with water pooling around it. Really fine or short hair can also slip through the openings depending on the design. I work with tubshroom, so I've spent quite a bit of time looking at both types.
So what catcher you should be using really depends on the kind of drain you have. Neither one is completely maintenance-free. The main thing to keep in mind is to keep checking and cleaning regularly regardless of which one you have.

I purchased my home less than a year ago. It’s a 70 year-old home and I don’t know how long ago this bathroom remodel happened but the grout at the bottom always looks like this. Even after cleaning g. I can see some small cracks and I just the discoloration, what’s the best course of action that doesn’t involve ripping out and retiling the shower?
I do have some extra tiles left behind but hoping some sort of cleaner or sealant or something can fix this problem.

As you see in the photos the caulking around the tub is loose which I’m planning on replacing but also the baseboard is black and is soft/damp. Also the tile around the back of the toilet has been changing color and spreading slowly overtime. I don’t think any pipe is leaking because my water bill has been consistent over the past months and years. So I assume it’s just water getting in from the caulking around the tub, but my mother suggested that there could be water coming in from my foundation. Anyone have any experience with this or can give any advice? Not sure if I can just replace the baseboard and caulk and move on or I need to possibly take up the towel and get into the walls to check for anything more. 😩 I’m a first time homeowner and don’t know much about anything TBH.

Hi folks!
In my old shower, I had the water first goto shower head and then pressed the knob to have it goto spout. My contractor put it the other way. Which way is correct? I don’t want to be pulling the spout everyday.
Additionally, the trim seems completely weirdly placed. See pic. Which side should the handle turn ?

Does anyone know of any company or local workers in Kannur who install bathroom partitions or shower curtains? Im looking for options using glass, PVC, or other suitable materials.
Please share their contact details or recommendations if you have used their service before. Thanks!
