Discussion Austin TX Store Recommendations

Hello!

I will be traveling to Austin next month and want to hit up some of the best retro gaming stores in the area.

I have an interest in PSP and OG Xbox if that’s any help. Mostly, I just wanna see some cool stores and bring some cool stuff home for my collection.

Please leave me your favorite stores/shops!

Gameover, half priced books. There are some gamexchange but it's not the greatest place. Also gamefellas it used to be my favorite but it closed a few stores down.

Don't forget the Start-Up Videogames store, which just opened a few months ago.

Game Over really is the best in town, Half Price Books carries some games but it's completely random, there are some smaller stores too like Happier Times and Start-Up. GameXChange in Georgetown is basically a toy shop at this point and Game Fellas isn't bad but it's super far south.

Game over if you want 5x eBay pricing and dirty half broken stuff...

Go a little south to New Braunfels and go to DPad. Best prices, large selection of games, and their trade in values are incredible. I have traded magic / pokemon cards over the years with them which has funded a huge portion of my retro collection

Game Over has multiple locations. They are always reliable and have good stuff.

There’s a new place on Parmer, probably far away from where any tourist would go called Start-Up. I haven’t visited it yet but I want to.

Not retro stores but also check out Pinballz Arcade. They have three locations and it’s awesome.

This. My neighborhood store in Houston is always stacked and the employees are super nice. I reckon the other branches are like that

Not games, but I also recommend visitors check out Bedrock City Comics when in Houston.

Happier Times Retro Ganing, looks like they recently moved but used to be in a guys car alarm shop in a random business park. Always good prices and always did deals

He does less deals now that he has the new location. I go in regularly but honestly, haven't found anything I wanted to buy the past 3-4 times. There's just not many bangers.

Kind of random but if you go to the Bob Bullock Texas State History museum they do have a few video games there.
