Finished Object 30 years worn
One of my first sweaters, a Kim Hargreaves design, that I knit for my father over 30 years ago. It was a lot big, and more than a little heavy, but he still wears it to this day, into his 90's. A beautiful design, like so much of her work.

This is so sweet and I have to say your dad looks great for a man in his 90s! I would have never guessed

Such love! You love him enough to make him a sweater, and he loves you enough to wear it 30 years later!
I have a super warm husband, so I can only make him flannel shirts, but he talks them up so much to people that the 20-somethings at work can tell which ones I've made by the snaps and the two pockets that fit his readers and his phone.

I recently knit one for my husband and now I imagine us as grandparents sitting outside him in his sweater. Thank you for that little glimpse into our future. Love it

I've got the whole family covered with hats, scarfs, shawls, sweaters, etc. It's a good feelingπ

I just got into knitting, are you able to machine wash a garment like this?

Machine wash, no. With wool, the most that I would do is just soak it in room temperature water with wool friendly soap. I would then roll it up between a bunch of towels to transfer as much water as possible. Finally, air drying it for as long as it takes.Β
