I actually have no idea why this keeps happening. I knitted the whole beanie the same way one knit and one purl in the round. The outside looks twisted and the inside is completely flat.
Do you have a suggestion to get both sides flat?

You're wrapping your yarn incorrectly when you're knitting. Your purls are correct, that's why the inside of the hat looks untwisted.

Thank you, I just can’t wrap my head around what I‘m doing wrong here. I always make sure to go in the front loop from left to right for the knit stitches. I thought to do a twisted stitch I would need to knit it in the back loop from right to left?

You’re going into the stitch right then, as the comment above said it’s to do with the direction that you wrap your working yarn in, watch a video and compare how you do it to check

You can also twist the stitch by incorrectly wrapping your yarn around the needle, not just by entering the loop incorrectly! Do you knit with your left hand or your right hand? I can help you find a video with the correct technique for your style of knitting if you'd like

Thank you so much! I actually compared my technique with so many videos and I just don‘t see a difference 😭
I knit continental with my working needle in the right hand.

This should be a nice slow video on correct knit technique 😄

continental means your working yarn is in your left hand

Yes but you can also knit continental lefthanded with the working yarn on your right hand.
That is also why I wrote the working needle is in my right hand, not the yarn.

I see someone's pointed out the twisted stitches, but I actually kinda like th texture it adds. Also my yiayia always twisted her stitches (even at 95yo) and it kinda reminds me of her.

Love it! Is this self-striping or did you choose the stripes yourself?
