💼 jobs megathread Official /r/rust "Who's Hiring" thread for job-seekers and job-offerers [Rust 1.98.1]

Welcome once again to the official r/rust Who's Hiring thread!

Before we begin, job-seekers should also remember to peruse the prior thread.

This thread will be periodically stickied to the top of r/rust for improved visibility.

You can also find it again via the "Latest Megathreads" list, which is a dropdown in the sidebar under "Community Bookmarks" on new Reddit, and a section in the sidebar under "Useful Links" on old Reddit.

The thread will be refreshed and posted anew every month, and the new post would happen on the first working day on or after the 16th. (This is a change from the previous cadence - we're testing the waters with this change as the previous cadence might have been difficult to follow for both job seekers and job posters, and had some other disadvantages)

Please adhere to the following rules when posting:

Rules for job seekers:

  • Don't create top-level comments; those are for employers.
  • Feel free to reply to top-level comments with on-topic questions, but not personal attacks.
  • Anyone seeking work should reply to my stickied top-level comment. Please include relevant info about yourself, a method to contact you, etc.
  • Meta-discussion should be reserved for the distinguished comment at the very bottom.

Rules for employers:

  • The ordering of fields in the template has been revised to make postings easier to read. If you are reusing a previous posting, please update the ordering as shown below.
  • Remote positions: see bold text for new requirement.
  • To find individuals seeking work, see the replies to the stickied top-level comment; you will need to click the "more comments" link at the bottom of the top-level comment in order to make these replies visible.
  • To make a top-level comment you must be hiring directly; no third-party recruiters.
  • One top-level comment per employer. If you have multiple job openings, please consolidate their descriptions or mention them in replies to your own top-level comment.
  • Proofread your comment after posting it and edit it if necessary to correct mistakes.
  • To share the space fairly with other postings and keep the thread pleasant to browse, we ask that you try to limit your posting to either 50 lines or 500 words, whichever comes first. We reserve the right to remove egregiously long postings. However, this only applies to the content of this thread; you can link to a job page elsewhere with more detail if you like.
  • Please base your comment on the following template:

COMPANY: [Company name; optionally link to your company's website or careers page.]

TYPE: [Full time, part time, internship, contract, etc.]

LOCATION: [Where are your office or offices located? If your workplace language isn't English-speaking, please specify it.]

REMOTE: [Do you offer the option of working remotely? Please state clearly if remote work is restricted to certain regions or time zones, or if availability within a certain time of day is expected or required.]

VISA: [Does your company sponsor visas?]

DESCRIPTION: [What does your company do, and what are you using Rust for? How much experience are you seeking and what seniority levels are you hiring for? The more details the better.]

ESTIMATED COMPENSATION: [Be courteous to your potential future colleagues by attempting to provide at least a rough expectation of wages/salary.
If you are listing several positions in the "Description" field above, then feel free to include this information inline above, and put "See above" in this field.
If compensation is negotiable, please attempt to provide at least a base estimate from which to begin negotiations. If compensation is highly variable, then feel free to provide a range.
If compensation is expected to be offset by other benefits, then please include that information here as well. If you don't have firm numbers but do have relative expectations of candidate expertise (e.g. entry-level, senior), then you may include that here. If you truly have no information, then put "Uncertain" here.
Note that many jurisdictions (including several U.S. states) require salary ranges on job postings by law.
If your company is based in one of these locations or you plan to hire employees who reside in any of these locations, you are likely subject to these laws. Other jurisdictions may require salary information to be available upon request or be provided after the first interview.
To avoid issues, we recommend all postings provide salary information.
You must state clearly in your posting if you are planning to compensate employees partially or fully in something other than fiat currency (e.g. cryptocurrency, stock options, equity, etc).
Do not put just "Uncertain" in this case as the default assumption is that the compensation will be 100% fiat. Postings that fail to comply with this addendum will be removed. Thank you.]

This is the top-level comment for individuals looking for work. Reply here if you would like employers to contact you. You don't need to follow a strict template, but consider the relevant sections of the employer template. For example, mention whether you're looking for full-time work or freelancing or etc., briefly describe your experience (not a full resume; send that after you've been contacted), mention whether you care about location/remote/visa, and list the technologies you're skilled with.

COMPANY: Cylake
TYPE: Full-time
LOCATION: Sunnyvale, CA, USA
We’re looking for engineers who can work from our Sunnyvale office.
DESCRIPTION:
Cylake is a new cybersecurity company building an AI-native security platform from the ground up. We recently came out of stealth with a $290M seed round and are backed by a team of experienced security and engineering leaders.
Cylake was founded by Nir Zuk, founder and former CTO of Palo Alto Networks, along with other senior engineering leaders from Palo Alto Networks and SentinelOne.
We’re building a vertically integrated platform that brings storage, compute, AI, and security together in a single system that runs within the customer's environment. There’s a lot of interesting systems work involved, and we’re looking for Rust engineers to help us build it.
We’re looking for Rust engineers in two areas:
Backend Engineering
We’re building the distributed backend and management layer that sits at the core of the platform. The work involves systems programming, distributed services, APIs, configuration and policy management, high availability, and managing security infrastructure at scale.
Rust is one of the technologies we use across the platform, alongside Go, Python, and other systems technologies.
Endpoint Engineering
We’re also building our endpoint security agent from scratch across Windows, Linux, and macOS. This is very low-level systems work: OS internals, telemetry, process and system activity, security controls, offline data spooling, and building a lightweight and resilient agent.
Rust is a core part of this effort. We’re particularly interested in engineers who enjoy working close to the OS, whether that's kernel/user-space interaction, system services, drivers, eBPF, ETW, or other low-level systems work.
We’re open to engineers with different backgrounds and levels of Rust experience. If you’re a strong systems engineer who is excited about Rust and wants to build something from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.
$150,000 - $250,000 base salary in addition to equity
CONTACT: Maggie Luong is the main point of contact. Send me an LinkedIn message with a copy of your resume and reddit in line or apply directly on our careers page.

I previously worked on an EDR research project where I built a macOS endpoint agent from scratch and improved existing linux agent. stack: go , osquery , nftables , pfctl(macos) etc. which has since turned into a startup now. I m completely focused on rust and have been building backend and systems projects in rust.

i would love to know if there is internship opportunity, i am student 28 grad.

This is the top-level comment for meta discussion. Reply here if you have questions or suggestions regarding this post.

We often get asked why we don't simply require every posting to have a defined salary range. This is a point of contention for the moderator team: the concern is that if we require a salary range, then it's likely that companies that don't want to declare one just wouldn't post here. You may or may not be too broken up about that, but hopefully you can concede that more choice is better here.

Of course, if you consider the lack of a salary range to be a red flag, then you don't have to apply to that posting. If you made a job posting and declined to provide a salary range, and you're seeing less traffic than expected from your post here, this might be why.

We've also updated the template recently, so I reposted it here in case someone missed it the last time around:

Note that many jurisdictions (including several U.S. states) require salary ranges on job postings by law.
If your company is based in one of these locations or you plan to hire employees who reside in any of these locations, you are likely subject to these laws.
Other jurisdictions may require salary information to be available upon request or be provided after the first interview.
To avoid issues, we recommend all postings provide salary information.

I don’t think this structure is serving its purpose any more. For example, last month it got only four postings, all about AI stuff (or at least AI-adjacent) that is somewhat scorned here on r/rust (AI is the new cryptocurrency). The individuals section gets a little more (last month fourteen).

Some possible related actions: Invert it, making individuals the top-level comments and companies inside. Drop company stuff (they’re posting on other platforms). Give up on the entire thing. Ban me. 🙂

It'd be really nice if we could look at the compensation :)
Internet says $1,879 to $3,758 per annum

I am sorry, I cannot disclose that on this thread. And yes, what you have seen online matches the starting of our range.
