So grindy! But unique for it's time and has some fun secrets

My history with this game is complicated. I love the concept and the initial stages, but feel like the developers got way too lazy starting at the Mesozoic. So many stages are just long corridors filled with the same enemy, and with variations of the same music. It had potential to be a lot better.

It does feel like an RPG with a side-scrolling action game tacked onto it. The boss fights are interesting, but the most of the regular levels are pretty simple. I wonder why they didn’t make the game a turn-based RPG like the original PC-98 game it was based on.

This is my first time participating in the Game of the Month, and also my first time playing E.V.O. I’m in the dinosaur era and just became a flying dino and so all my progress for the era has been reset.

When I started playing, I searched this sub to see what the general consensus was for this game, and two things stuck out: it’s grindy, and there can be a real jump in difficulty with bosses. Both of which I’m actually fine with. But there’s something about having to re-grind for upgrades that I already had as a land dino now that I’m a flying dino that makes me laugh and shake my head.

Anybody have suggestions for which area to grind as a newly evolved pterosaur?
