Question What should I do with a launch edition Switch 2?
I have a Switch 2 laying around that I bought on launch that I am saving until the Switch 2 is hackable.
Should I leave it in its box or boot it up once and get through the set up process?

Certain PlayStation Jailbreaks require an older firmware and you can’t downgrade once you update so if a switch hack requires an older firmware it might be better to not update. If that’s the route it goes.

yeah that works for Playstation which is an absolutely different console in both hardware and software, it's like suggesting Apple related advice to an Android user

You actually proved his point. Certain older iOS versions can only be jailbroken until iOS 18 and jailbreak developments are (slowly) still happening there.

How is giving Apple advice to an Android user useful in the slightest, can you even read LMFAO

The original comment was referring to firmware versions. Hence the iOS jailbreak versions.

yeah, for Playstation, an entirely different console which doesn't apply in any way to Switch, can you read?????

In the OP, what he is means that it can apply nonetheless not because of exact hardware/software. He was saying it a more abstract, layman sense that firmware versions matter in the video game console hacking space in general.

ah yes, version 19 of the firmware is somehow vulnerable for an arbitrary reason you all have mo basis to believe
it doesn't work like that

I just upgraded day 1 and put it back in the box
My logic is I have a backlog. So If I beat my Xbox, pc and switch backlog, then it’s time to do something about the launch switch 2
I wouldn’t rush yet unless you literally are that bored

So you will never touch your Switch 2? :P

Honestly, it sounds lol, but my backlog isn’t even that big
I’ve beat about 100 games this year.
I think my pc backlog is about 35 games, even less on switch (and way more shorter ones there too)
I should be done by late next year, sounds reasonable

How long are the games that you play? Do you play a certain amount of hours every day? I don't think I've beaten 100 games in my life!

Dang I think my record was a little over 250
Most games I play are easily beaten in a day. So add in another like that and it can spread across the week when I’m a bit busier

update the thing and use it
Switch 1 has no softmod, Switch 2 has even less of a chance and that's already near zero

If you missed the switch 2 day one patch, you can still update to an earlier firmware version by inserting physical game cartridges such as Super Mario Party Jamboree TV or Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition). Just make sure the cartridge was manufactured back in 2025, shortly after the Switch 2 launched.

It depends bro. Only you know.
If you are not dying to play something in the switch 2, then don't do it.
If you are dying to do it, then do it.
It's not the end of the world if you update. I'm pretty sure there will be opportunities in case the switch requires low firmware or modchip. This happened with the PS5.
I thought I'd update it since I want to play Pokopia and OOT remaster, but I have so many games on steam, that certainly I can continue waiting.

No, not in a hurry. I have another Switch 2. The other one I purposefully bought to be able to jailbreak one day. I do still buy and play games on the other Switch 2 so not in a hurry or anything.

he bought it with the intent of not using it why would he sell it
also updating at all is risky for a launch switch 2 lmao wtf

You should have booted it at launch, if you do it now you get the current firmware which kind of defeats the purpose of buying a SW2 at launch for the sole purpose of hoping for a vulnerability.
So yeah, you did this all wrong, but honestly it's not looking like there will be a software vulnerability anyway even on launch firmware.
