I'm personally convinced by now that IF a big exploit is ever found for the SW2, there's a 95% chance it's an AI agent that does so.

If it requires a modchip, which isn't an impossibility, it almost certainly won't be done by an AI

I do a fair bit of hardware hacking with AI agents, it does fine at automating/recon but would suck at doing anything new

Same with software though, which is the thing people don't seem to understand, lol.

Okay, let's say I have it, the AI that WILL find the Switch 2 exploit, I just have it right now!!

How am I going to give it firmware dumps? Is it supposed to find those by itself? Work on firmware it can't even see?

Shit, even getting an AI to pretend to use a joycon via emulation of the remote on a Switch 1 is a nightmare, ask me how I know. And even WHEN you do that you still have NO feedback loop, which is a huge requirement for the AI to know what the hell it's doing.

It can't interface with any of the hardware by itself. It can MAYBE guide me through the process? But at that point I'm spending JUST as much time doing, and more time on top of that reading AI Responses.

And EVEN THEN it's not like it's going to come up with anything never seen before.

I'm also just not nearly as confident in an AI's pattern detection to be able to assume it can see an exploit, and then re-imagine the same exploit working elsewhere. (Such as when Twilight Hack found Epona's name had an overflow issue). They're really good at doing tasks (sometimes), but not really discovering tasks...

Hence the 5% :) hardware mods are the only edge humans will have imo.

There's still a possibility that if somebody manages to draw a good schematic on the switch 2 or if a schematic is leaked, that an AI could review how the hardware works and suggest possible entry points. Of course, a human would have to test them because no one is insane enough to put an AI into a robot body and force it to work on a switch 2.

But AI would still definitely be helpful in hardware level hacking too.

u/Sethdarkus 1d ago

Insane enough?

Hmmmmmm what if I put a AI in a dog size body or perhaps a cat? Wait let’s go smaller a gold fish

u/JarlvD 1d ago

I cant go out tonight, I have to feed my AI goldfish.

or any software exploit that allows you to dump at least the game files

Use it for what it's worth, then actually let humans handle it from there. Sometimes you can use these tools for what they are and then take the wheel yourself.

I feel like with how good AI is at breaking security lately, I don't think it's outside of the realm of possibility that a model specifically designed without security safeguards would take over hacking scenes. But that's a double-edged sword because the exact same technology could be used to make things more secure as long as a real security experts are still around to verify their work.

u/CasualTriips 1d ago

We just need a hard mod then. Ai can't fix that on hackable models already in the wild.

4

u/RazzmatazzUnusual843 1d ago

Yeah, I'm hoping for this too. A mod chip may be the only reasonable way to defeat the Switch 2. It's still the only known way to defeat patched Switch 1 models.

u/SectorI6920 1d ago

It’s easier to attack than it is to defend. A defending ai would have to prevent every single point of entry while an attacking AI would only need to find a single vulnerability breach the entire thing.

2

u/RazzmatazzUnusual843 1d ago

I agree, destroying is much faster than building. But using a machine that can systematically scan an entire code base and look for errors with more precision than any human can at a speed faster than any human can definitely close as that gap significantly.

If a hacking team uses AI to sniff out vulnerabilities, who's to say that a security team also using AI didn't already beat them to those vulnerabilities? As long as the ones actually making the patches have real human experts doing the normal work on top of reviewing potential vulnerabilities the AI claims to have found, then honestly, I see the gap you present being much smaller.

In my opinion, if one team isn't using AI to help scan the code, that team is automatically at a disadvantage, but if both teams are using AI, then all it does is dramatically speed up the same cat and mouse game we've already heard dozens of times.

With the coding yes, I'm pretty sure if the Switch 2 was hacked we would have an Switch 2 emulator by the next week entirely made by AI.

But as long as you can't get into the hardware there's nothing you can do

5

u/GambAntonio 1d ago

I think we will get recompilations way before an emulator. We only need a decrypted dump and that's it.

5

u/auggiethechesscat 1d ago

...and then you need to translate it to LLVM IR or something, rewrite the entire sdk/standard library, translate all gpu commands, etc. etc.

You are acting like this is easy.

5

u/GambAntonio 1d ago

Well... I'm actually working on a switch recomp and a full decomp of Ocarina of time 3D... I now use AI 90% of the time, but I've been programming for 10 years now...

I don't know why people look down on AI usage so much. It speeds up projects, that's great

2

u/Themeatmanofdoom 9h ago

Because hating on AI is the cool thing to do

2

u/avigard 1d ago

This is because they are blatantly misinformed

2

u/Admirable_Zombie5245 1d ago

But you need a hacked switch 2 to be able to dump

1

u/Ok-Bicycle-9053 1d ago

Yo 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 we have hit a new level of delusion. SWITCH 2 EMULATOR IN A WEEK???? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

1

u/avigard 1d ago

He said, if we have a swicth 2 hack that make it possible to see how the switch 2 works an AI agent would be able to come up with a switch 2 emulator in a week

3

u/Sleepy_aka_Sleepy__ 21h ago

I asked some months ago in this subreddit if Ai would be useful, they downvoted me to hell...

3

u/Stealthinater1234 1d ago

I’d like to see if it can find a software hack for the switch 1. The atmosphere dev SciresM claims that the kernel has no exploitable bugs.

5

u/TabouletVR 23h ago

To be fair one of the last big ps5 exploit that the_flow was gatekeeping was found by some random kids that were just fcking around with an LLM, so maybe the switch 2 will get hacked by someone that won't even know how :/

4

u/Anxiety_timmy 21h ago

Yeah man an LLM will shit out a PSC CFW just give it time bro

Yeah man an LLM will give me ASLR defeat with pixels

Point is LLMs can pump out whatever much faster than any human however vibe coding is absolutely demented to use for this. People who vibe code often dont know what they're looking at and especially dont know what good code even is. Giving an LLM whatever Ghidra spit back out and telling it "giv kernel exploit no mistak" is never going to end will.

Anyone who actually knows what the hell theyre looking for wont use LLMs because why not just write your own code.

2

u/ZOKOZOKOuwu 21h ago

Yeah it's going to brick people's fucking switch 2s, I don't think vibe coders understand that they can just brick their shit with using AI.

2

u/Anxiety_timmy 21h ago

See DOF picofly firmware.

Actual shitpost of a firmware, does dumb shit like shifting bits to multiply. Best of all, I have multiple reports of bricked systems after it because le LLM said to fuck with timings. Shock of all shocks maybe messing with lines that specifically handle SOC power will cause real fun behavior like oh I dont know, 77620 dying or the SOC itself dying from it.

4

u/ccarnell98 21h ago

No vibe coding copies things based on other people's code.

5

u/Beginning-Act8041 1d ago

It's possible but ai just isnt as curious

2

u/EnbyHatticus 1d ago

It's hard to say.

4

u/lowmoob 1d ago

My sources say no

4

u/TheRealShubshub 1d ago

No patrick, Vibe coding isnt going to reveal a kernel exploit

1

u/Yaekai 1d ago

I disagree, just give it time lol

2

u/TheRealShubshub 1d ago

Happy to be proven wrong of course, But I trust the word of those who have hand crafted a reimplementation of the entire OS back to front side to side and left to right and back again, More than people using AI

-2

u/fakesmakemewannakms 1d ago

The ps5 was just blown open using a.i

1

u/Friendly_Recover286 7h ago

No it wasn't. The exploit was already known without AI. AI had nothing to do with it.

All the AI did was let more people find it which resulted in one of them sharing it and screwing everyone over. It's not a good thing that AI helped with this.

0

u/TheRealShubshub 1d ago

The PS5s OS has not been documented back to front side to side left to right and back again nor reimplemented in its entirety by hand

Also Sony isnt Nintendo

1

u/fakesmakemewannakms 1d ago edited 1d ago

And you think the documents aren't gonna help? Like what are you even saying lol

2

u/TheRealShubshub 1d ago

The people that have reimplemented the entirety of the Switch OS (Which is the same OS as Switch 2 btw) have combed through every single little piece of code or functionality or anything

There is no kernel exploit that will magically surface because an AI is suddenly having a go

Fym "what is documents gonna do"

1

u/fakesmakemewannakms 1d ago

Right, cause this stuff happens overnight? The documentation is going to help obviously lol no need to get mad

2

u/Squmy 1d ago

If vulnerabilities could be found by AI, Nintendo would patch them before even releasing the update. A vulnerability would require some out of the box thinking that Nintendo wouldn't have thought of beforehand, which requires mainly human thought. Though AI would definitely speed up development of CFWs, homebrew, and Switch 2 emulation, but only after the initial exploit is found

1

u/QwertyPuffz 1d ago

I heard there's a 5 billion dollar bounty on switch 2 kernel exploit, it also comes with reliabily powered hardware infrastructure and 50tbs of storage I heard, just a rumor

1

u/Free-Virus-9974 1d ago

I mean, if AI can just find the exploit for ps5 that a human found, then maybe.

1

u/V2UgYXJlIG5vdCBJ 13h ago edited 13h ago

*tosses coin

Coin says no.

Actually, was AI used for jailbreaking PS5? From what I could find, the answer was No.

1

u/Friendly_Recover286 7h ago edited 4h ago

No. The exploit was already known without AI. All the AI did was let more people find it which resulted in one of them sharing it with Sony for them to patch meaning nobody with a modded console will ever be able to play GTA VI on it which was a huge part of why they were keeping the exploit hidden. Now you have to choose a modded PS5 or GTA VI.

If a random nobody with an AI is able to find an exploit they're going to share it right away and take that bug bounty payment. That's more important than getting nothing and releasing the exploit. Before AI people cared about hacking consoles now it's just going to be a money race.

u/thundement126 5h ago

GTA 4 acha baratinho pra ps3

1

u/Islu64 13h ago

Vibe coding won't help, but using AI to reverse engineer... that will probably make it easier to either find an exploit or develop an emulator

1

u/Zestyclose_Track_443 12h ago

vibecoding isn't the term to use here because it implies the person making it doesn't even know how it works

1

u/tnbeastzy 8h ago

Afaik, the latest kernal level exploit for PS5 was also independently found by a vibecoder.

1

u/Friendly_Recover286 7h ago

You do realize that companies have access to better models that OpenAI and Anthropic won't let normies like us have right? They're doing security audits on their codebases to find and fix all of these issues before someone can find it and they have better tools for it.

1

u/auggiethechesscat 1d ago

In my opinion, no.

1

u/Mundane-Life-5713 1d ago

If people dont understand how something works to bypass it, the ai isnt going to know either. Ai works off what people feed into it, if you got nothing to give it, itll be paperweight.

1

u/Woookie94 1d ago

If we had any of the coding or schematics for the Switch 2 then AI would probably figure it out before a human, but if we had access to the Nintendo schematics it wouldn't take anyone long to hack it.

The reason AI is remaking Halo and mods for it is because the entire Halo CE source code was uploaded online. The other mods are basic programmed and AI does the rest...

1

u/youngjay_12 17h ago

99% chance AI will be the one to break the Switch 2’s security

0

u/Common-Anon-Gamer 1d ago

I think yes have you seen the increase in the amount of homebrew programs on pc and all the ports of 1 game to another platform using vibe coding? How about the ps5 emulator that is using vibe coding imo its already surpassed humans in coding in general because it will bruteforce the task and then the human will help push it along to get it to fix mistakes

1

u/TeaspoonWrites 18h ago

Yeah I sure have seen lots of dogshit vibecoded recomps that fall apart after needing any kind of updates or maintenance.

-1

u/BabylonianWeeb 1d ago

We need a moded switch 2 for it

-1

u/Impressive_Pin8761 22h ago

i mean if you find a way to hook a data center directly into a switch without frying it then i give it a 10% chance

Nope. That stuff isn’t public

-4

pretty much every top notch ai model wont let you do something like that
