The nix language is incomprehensible
I know three languages(Lua, Python and rust), which I know isn't a lot but at this point in my journey it's very easy to learn a new one. But nix just escapes my grasp, there are so many weird things and the documentation is so horrible. The complex packages like VSCode fhs and the fhs that wraps other packaged are insanely confusing and then there's complex flakes which have tests and have them run a vm. And then it just stops working and it spews forth a unreadable error message that makes you want to clamp your balls in a vise. Not to mention dentritic pattern with all It's helper flakes that have god awful documentation so you just end up reading the source which is incomprehensible.
Maybe it's just because I am not used to functional programming.
Nevertheless I am still going to keep using NixOS and with each year that passes I will understand more.

Rules For Individuals
- Don't create top-level comments - those are for employers.
- Feel free to reply to top-level comments with on-topic questions.
- I will create top-level comments for meta discussion and individuals looking for work.
Rules For Employers
- If you're hiring directly, you're fine, skip this bullet point. If you're a third-party recruiter, see the extra rules below.
- Multiple top-level comments per employer are now permitted.
- It's still fine to consolidate multiple job openings into a single comment, or mention them in replies to your own top-level comment.
- Don't use URL shorteners.
- reddiquette forbids them because they're opaque to the spam filter.
- Use the following template.
- Use **two stars** to bold text. Use empty lines to separate sections.
- Proofread your comment after posting it, and edit any formatting mistakes.
- Check if your comment is visible in Incognito mode, after waiting a few minutes.
- If not, it was probably automatically removed, which happens frequently for new accounts. Send modmail, otherwise we might not notice quickly.
Template
**Company:** [Company name; also, use the "formatting help" to make it a link to your company's website, or a specific careers page if you have one.]
**Type:** [Full time, part time, internship, contract, etc.]
**Compensation:** [This section is optional, and you can omit it without explaining why. However, including it will help your job posting stand out as there is extreme demand from candidates looking for this info. If you choose to provide this section, it must contain (a range of) actual numbers - don't waste anyone's time by saying "Compensation: Competitive."]
**Location:** [Where's your office - or if you're hiring at multiple offices, list them. If your workplace language isn't English, please specify it. It's suggested, but not required, to include the country/region; "Redmond, WA, USA" is clearer for international candidates.]
**Remote:** [Do you offer the option of working remotely? If so, do you require employees to live in certain areas or time zones?]
**Visa Sponsorship:** [Does your company sponsor visas?]
**Description:** [What does your company do, and what are you hiring C++ devs for? How much experience are you looking for, and what seniority levels are you hiring for? The more details you provide, the better.]
**Technologies:** [Required: what version of the C++ Standard do you mainly use? Optional: do you use Linux/Mac/Windows, are there languages you use in addition to C++, are there technologies like OpenGL or libraries like Boost that you need/want/like experience with, etc.]
**Contact:** [How do you want to be contacted? Email, reddit PM, telepathy, gravitational waves?]
Extra Rules For Third-Party Recruiters
Send modmail to request pre-approval on a case-by-case basis. We'll want to hear what info you can provide (in this case you can withhold client company names, and compensation info is still recommended but optional). We hope that you can connect candidates with jobs that would otherwise be unavailable, and we expect you to treat candidates well.

Wanting to try DCK since i cant find proper ketamine
I have been wanting to try ketamine for a long time but can't due to where I live & the lack of people selling it. Thats why i got my hands on some DCK that I ordered online. I've been drinking a lot recently & I'm not sure how it's going to effect my desire to drink since I don't want to find myself wanting to drink & taking DCK at the same time & I'm just wondering if anyone has a clue wether my demand for alcohol could result in a conflict or bad time with the substance

Thalidomide, a dreaded and nearly mythic teratogen NSFW
imageThis is a true holy grail as far as I’m concerned. Thalidomide has all but disappeared from modern medical practices, but the dramatic stories still live on! I’m tempted to try it just so I can tell people I did thalidomide and lived to tell the tale, because right now just mentioning I have this stuff in my possession is enough to send people into a tailspin thinking there’s no way it can be used safely

Seeking Advice Looking for Nootropics that help with Short-Term Memory+Focus as a Machinist with ADHD
Hey all, I'm looking for suggestions that work well for someone that has to recall numbers and read gauges correctly and quickly. I'm currently on 25mg of Adderall. I'm trying 50-75 mg Bromantane and 30 mg Zinc. There's a noticeable increase in them, but I'm looking for other options. I've also tried Semax intranasally, but I don't think I got the dosage right and I really couldn't tell the difference. I'm stating my career because I've been told that Nootropics work better in situations specific to the effects it gives.

Discussion what PVP AFPS has currently the biggest playerbase?
The title is self-explanatory. I haven't played an arena FPS in a while and I would love to experience this genre again. I am scared that the answer is quake live because I didn't like that game very much. If Quake live is the answer to my question I will have to give the game another chance but if there is another more modern option I would rather try the other option 😅

Which GUI crate would you choose for this project?
Hi everyone! I asked this earlier in the week, but I don't think I explained my question very well (sorry for the translation; I'm a Spanish speaker).
I want to learn how to develop graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
I'm generally new to programming, but I really like Rust; I don't know any other languages—just Rust.
I want to build a project for the company I work for. We mostly use Excel for our data; our "database" (an Excel file) is 500k rows by 25 columns (though there are several files covering different areas, so the total exceeds a million data points).
I want to automate this. That million data points is spread across years; the most critical process involves each of us reviewing 100 items in 30/40 minutes—classifying, validating, sorting, etc.
I need to create something like dashboards featuring:
charts and tables that are sortable and filterable.
These two components are absolutely critical.
For the rest, I'm thinking of a data grid (something like Excel, but not a full spreadsheet—just small tables with editable cells).
We need this because our values aren't always 100% accurate; there's a lot of human error involved in our work.
For example: Our system registers a client who has a discount percentage, but that wasn't included in the initial registration request. So, the discount doesn't apply the first time. Later, we receive the correction, and the discount applies to the second sale—at which point we also correct the first sale.
This happens across all areas, so I need something editable. Given our limited review time, I need the interface to be fast and intuitive.
I don't need mobile support—though it would be a nice-to-have, it's not essential. I need a recommendation focused 100% on desktop.
It also needs to properly support Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Which GUI crate would you choose? (I know it's difficult for me, but I want to learn a lot)

Should I ship or bring my vile of lsd? NSFW
For context bought 55 drops of lsd of the net and I’m currently in New York, should I ship the vile in the mail as priority with my bong and other clothes or should I just bring it in my carry on side bag or just carry on suit case? It’s like a small ass dropper just scared that they will ask at airport and I’ll be fucked💀🙏

Mechanistic Basis for 5-HT2AR Over 5-HT2BR Activation (2026)
Selective 5-HT2AR agonism without 5-HT2BR activation is critical for safe psychedelic-inspired therapeutics. Here, we systematically probe the ligand-binding pockets of 5-HT2AR and 5-HT2BR and identify steric and conformational constraints at the side-extended pocket (SEP) and extended binding pocket (EBP) that dictate ligand orientation and receptor signaling. Guided by these insights, we design derivatives across tryptamine and phenethylamine scaffolds that integrate SEP and EBP engagement with scaffold modification to reinforce 5-HT2AR activation while limiting 5-HT2BR activity. Cryo-EM structures of 5-HT2AR and 5-HT2BR bound to IHCH-2330, a selective 5-HT2AR agonist and 5-HT2BR antagonist, confirm the design principle. These findings show differential activation mechanisms between 5-HT2AR and 5-HT2BR and provide a rational framework for engineering safer, functionally selective serotonergic compounds, mitigating 5-HT2BR–mediated side effects while preserving therapeutic efficacy.

7-OH Process, Realistic or Not?
This is something that I stumbled upon, and I want to know your guys' thoughts. It seems at least a little sound.
"We start by adding 25 grams of extract to a beaker and diluting it to 250 mL with acetone and putting it in the refrigerator.
We then dilute 25 grams of baking soda to 250 mL and add that to the refrigerator.
Then we add 6 grams of oxone to 50mL of water and refrigerate that too.
Then we setup our magnetic stirrer with a separatory funnel hanging from above. We add the baking soda solution to the crude extract solution and while stirring, add the oxone solution dropwise from the separatory funnel over the course of 15 minutes.
Once the oxone solution is added, we let the reaction mixture stir for an additional 15 minutes before placing the beaker back into the refrigerator.
After 1-2 hours, we dilute our reaction mixture by a factor of 2 and extract the alkaloids using ethyl acetate. We then wash the EA with brine solution and transfer it into a baking dish to evaporate off the EA in a food dehydrator.
We are left with several grams of a yellow-orange crystalline substance consisting of over 50% 7-OH, and mitragynine, which can then be transferred to a chromatography column for further refinement."

Homebrew release Metroid: Zero Mission source port for 3DS with stereoscopic 3D support
Hey everyone!
A few days ago I finished putting together a 3DS port of Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA), featuring stereoscopic 3D support.
For obvious copyright reasons, no copyrighted game assets are included. You'll need to provide your original GBA ROM and place it inside the directory generated by the .cia when launched.
I've tested and confirmed it working on a New 3DS, but I don't have an Old 3DS on hand to check how it performs there. To speed up the development process I relied on AI tools, but any feedback regarding performance, bug reports, or code improvements is more than welcome.
You can check out the repository here: https://github.com/tinaut1986/mzm
I also shared a brief thread on Twitter/X breaking down the background and details of the port: https://x.com/Tinaut1986/status/2098753758368854477

Embedded std?
I was wondering if there were any projects like micro python to port std in to make a barebones os designed for microcontrollers? I understand that the std relies on OS level syscalls, so can we do something like implement a basic fat32 file system to accommodate certain write or read requests. In general this would be used to run std in projects without a OS? Does this already exist, and how hard would it be to make a basic version?
🛠️ project Enki – Write GPU compute kernels in pure stable Rust
Hey guys!
I've been building a GPU compute platform on pure stable-rust to let you write compute kernels directly in standard rust, Built entirely on Vulkan 1.3 (Compute) for the host api runtime & MLIR/LLVM for the backend JIT compiler.
It can make you write iters-enums-generics-etc.. in your function, and run it across GPU silicon, because the syntax is literally rust, It can execute on native CPU.
Here is a simple example:
```rust use enki::*; use glam::Vec2;
const COUNT: usize = 5;
// Declare the compute kernel with #[nam]
[nam]
fn scale_vectors(_space: &Space, input: &Vec2, output: &mut Vec2, factor: f32) { *output = *input * factor; }
fn main() { // Initialize the headless GPU runtime let enki = Enki::init();
// Allocate physical data directly in GPU VRAM
let in_gpu = gpu_vec![
Vec2::new(1.0, 2.0),
Vec2::new(3.0, 4.0),
Vec2::new(5.0, 6.0),
Vec2::new(7.0, 8.0),
Vec2::new(9.0, 10.0),
];
let mut out_gpu = gpu_vec![Vec2::ZERO; COUNT];
let factor = 2.5f32;
// Record and dispatch directly to GPU silicon
enki.flow(|_| {
scale_vectors.run(
&Space::gpu_x(COUNT),
&in_gpu,
&mut out_gpu,
GpuParam::new(factor),
);
});
// Dual Execution: Run the exact same function on CPU native rust
let in_cpu = vec![
Vec2::new(1.0, 2.0),
Vec2::new(3.0, 4.0),
Vec2::new(5.0, 6.0),
Vec2::new(7.0, 8.0),
Vec2::new(9.0, 10.0),
];
let mut out_cpu = vec![Vec2::ZERO; COUNT];
for i in 0..COUNT {
scale_vectors(&Space::cpu_x(i, COUNT), &in_cpu[i], &mut out_cpu[i], factor);
}
// Verify bit-for-bit equivalence
assert_eq!(&out_cpu[..], &out_gpu.to_vec()[..]);
println!("\nGPU Results: {:?}", out_gpu);
println!("\nCPU Results: {:?}", out_cpu);
println!("\nCPU and GPU outputs match.");
} ```
