Debian Stable Question Konqueror app weirdness
imageOriginally there was only Firefox there. Then Konqueror appeared out of nowhere right next to it. After the update, Konqueror disappeared and was replaced by two Firefoxes.
The same thing happens on my laptop too so not “your issue”.

how to stop kmetronome, wireplumber, and pipewire from going zombie state (bookworm)
the title is mostly the issue; I'm using bookworm (D12) and whenever I start kmetronome (now, "drumstick metronome") the moment I quit, all 3 of the above named processes go "D" status; I've tried all of the solutions suggested by google gemini, but nothing seems to work
any and all help is appreciated

From Arch to Debian!
imageAfter 5-6 years of Arch (with KDE), I finally moved to Debian (with Xfce).
What I appreciated about Arch (and KDE):
Rolling release: I could use the latest version of the kernel, Gradle (I'm an Android dev) and other tools where being on the latest version matters.
Extensive Wiki and documentation: Arch wiki is just great.
AUR: makes installing packages that aren't in the official repos easier, it's like a book of recipes, and it's literally got everything you could imagine.
Customizability: this is where KDE excels, versatile and everything is configurable.
KDE Connect: made my life easier all these years, thanks!
What I didn't like about Arch (and KDE):
Rolling release (yes, again): not necessarily because it's bad, I just happen to live in a 3rd world country where internet is very limited and slow (how fuckin lucky for me I guess), so I would update once every 5-6 months and that breaks stuff, and sometimes you need to install a simple package, but because you haven't updated in a while, you need to update the repos, and then the package ends up forcing you to update the whole system anyway because of problems with partial updates and dependencies. Again, this is not on Arch, I blame this on geography.
KDE is a bit heavy: compared to Xfce, and comes with a ton of preinstalled apps, many of them were actually useful, but I ended up going through the app list and debloating as if I was using Windows.
The community: arch elitism is real, and it is a bit toxic, but it's tolerable when you've been using arch for a long time.
If you reached this point, thanks for reading! And I would appreciate a KDE Connect alternative that works with Xfce, I know you can set up KDE Connect on Xfce anyway but I don't wanna bring the whole Qt suite, I would rather have something light and GTK based. If you know a name drop it in the comments, thanks again! :)

Debian Stable Question Nvidia driver 580 for Pascal
imageGood morning,
I'm trying to install Nvidia drivers on a GTX 1050, Pascal series, in Debian 13 Xfce. But the current version available in the repositories is driver 550, which gives me this error on temperature readings.
I understand the latest driver for this GPU is the 580 driver. Is there any way to install it without breaking Debian? Has anyone done it successfully?
The current driver does work, but I do worry about not being able to see the full GPU performance. I'm considering switching to Fedora, but again they have made 580 drivers a legacy package. I do prefer Debian thanks to its less maintenance overhead.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance. Sorry for the low quality image.
The system is a hybrid HP Pavilion 15 gaming laptop with Intel i5 10300H, Intel iGPU, Nvidia GTX 1050 and 8GB RAM

Wake from suspend takes 20+ seconds. I believe this ACPI error is the cause, but I'm not sure:

It also seems to happen more often when leave the system suspended for a long time.
Tried, no effect:
- Disabling XHC1 wakeup via
/proc/acpi/wakeup
Has anyone with this model or anyone with a MacBook slow wake issue run into this?
