Finished Object Completed Sweaters for the SO. First contribution to the group. :)
Contribution to the group since I'm new here. We moved to the Great Lakes area recently so we needed some warmer clothing. I made 2 sweaters for the hubs so far. The first is from Viking Knits by Lasse Matburg. Pattern name "The Viking". Made with KnitPicks Swish Bulky in Marine Heather colorway. The second is "Neo's sweater" by Suss Cousins in her book "Hollywood Knits". This is made with the Sinfonia cotton yarn in colorway "Ladrillo (brick).

Help - equipment Gauge trouble
Hello!
I'm a beginner and need some advice regarding my first bigger project. I want to make an Uva hoodie scarf from Refined kniwear as a christmas gift for my sister.
The instruction says:
-250 g of Ballerina Chunky Mohair, 135 m/50 g, from Sandnes Yarn, or 300 g of Fluffy Mohair, 200 m/100 g, from Cowgirl Blues, or
Fat Mohair from brands like Sysleriget or Siesto Fibres. Use two strands.
-The hoodie scarf is knitted in rib (k1, p1) using 5 mm circular needles (80 cm) with two strands of Ballerina Chunky Mohair
-Gauge- Approx. 15 stitches x 20 rows = 10 x 10 cm in rib (k1, p1) on 5 mm needles, worked flat.
I decided against pure mohair because I find it very itchy. I went to my local yarn shop and ask for help choosing another yarn. I bought Drops Big merino and Drops Kid-silk (see picture) and used one strand of both.
However my swatch does not fit the one from the instruction and I'm lost what to do now.
My swatch before blocking was 13 stitches x 24 rows and after blocking it is 11 sts x 23 rows.
Should I go down with needle size? From 5.0mm to 4.5 or 4? How do I adjust the work properly to end up with a wearable hoodie scarf?
Thank you in advance for all tips!

Help - equipment Help! New knitter here
I haven't attached a picture because it's THAT bad but I have one question: why do all my end stitches (right at the end of any row) come out so loose and ugly no matter how tight I try to make them? Everything else is okay - I've learnt knitting and purling and I use the continental style method. It's just this one thing. Does anyone know why all my last stitches are so loose and deformed and is there any way I can fix this?

Finished Object Finished it!
Finally finished in time for our sheep fair!
I've got long covid so working out the stitches was hard. I had a basic pattern but I changed yarn and needle size. I altered sleeves and used a motif for the dog, but just a simple design for sheep. I knitted the head and sewed on. It's kept me going through difficult days, now ready for another project! :)

Finished Object Project hail Mary sweater
First ever sweater I made and yes I probably shouldn't have done color work for it but I like to live on the edge and I had tons of practice with color work socks
And I wanted to get a white zipper but the chunky zipper I wanted cost like 30 something dollars while the black one cost 8 so black zipper it was

Rave (like a rant, but in a good way) I made gauge for the first time!
I have been a notoriously tight knitter. I've been trying to follow Patty Lyon's advice to let the tool do the work, and I successfully hit gauge on my first ever brioche project!
I am thrilled, and I know y'all will understand my joy.
I'm making Stephen West's Brioche Pup Sweater for my mother-in-law's little terrier/wire-haired doxie mix.

Discussion hot weather knits?
I used to live in Michigan and knit lots of hats, scarves, cowls, mittens, and I was planning to start my first sweater. However, I’ve now moved to Louisiana and it seems far too hot here (even in winter) to even think about wearing a sweater outside.
Important to note that I am not a woman and don’t particularly like very frilly blouses/skirts, but worse than that, I have sensory issues that make wearing any top except cotton t-shirts pretty awful, especially tight fitting ones. So fun tank tops, crop tops, blouses, etc are all out.
Does anyone have good project ideas that are summer clothing but not tight crop tops/tank tops?Or, other useful knit things to use somewhere in the house?

Work in Progress Experience with older patterns
Working on an Ai updated older (WW2 era) pattern for Navy Icelandic sweater
Lots of translations and modernizing by AI to current needle and wool sizes.
Complete with tunic part and it’s tight- how much does natural wool “give” and grow during blocking?
172 rows in the round is supposed to be XXL
Edit
I just don’t know how to do pattern resizing
I did give my body measurements into the ai thing and honestly just went for it- the experience I got from the project was and is actually better than a sweater- though I’d kinda like to wear it
The original pattern used 4/4 and 8/4 for yarn sizes/ which came back as DK and bulky “modernized”. Cascade 220 for trim and eco+ for body

Discussion Yarn recommendations for Merino and Mohair
Hey all,
I’ve seen a heap of posts already about knitting for olive selling into a private equity company and wanted to find out what other yarn people are using if they aren’t using KFO anymore.
I am Australian so even KFO is very expensive for me ($14 per 50g) so any recommendations that aren’t too expensive would be appreciated. I am looking for mohair and merino wool specifically and with a good range of colours.
Thanks !!

Tips and Tricks Color Transfer Question
Hello. This is the first time I've used this yarn or a silk blend or an alpaca blend. It was rather expensive & I've just started using it today but saw the color is transferring to my hands. I noticed this even after a few rows. I'm worried that even if I wash this (once finished) in the most gentle of ways, the yarn will lose considerable color.
Does anyone have any experience with this yarn or anything similar? Any advice on how to prevent color loss? Thank you so much in advance!

Finished Object I won a thing! :)
This year was my first time entering my knitting in any endeavor that involves judging and I actually won a ribbon. I entered my Cara Sweater (pattern by LE Knit) in the Washington State Fair this year and took home the 2nd place ribbon for adult pullover sweaters. Whaaa?! My gobs have been sufficiently smacked. Anyway… I’m super stoked about it and just wanted to share a fun update on a Friday. :)

What's your favorite, not as well known, niche yarn/yarn brands? I want to try something new but feel like I'm not totally sure where to look.
